Ah that’s the Utah Jazz guy. Nice.
The SEC is definitely not a Mickey Mouse league. Sankey is very objective & consistent.

I think LSU football has shown the SEC that the SEC can't do a damn thing about what Ole Miss has done and the SEC is fighting for the authority to do so. LSU backed down. It is highly doubtful everyone will. The SEC is arguing that they have the authority to force others to back down. I think the SEC eventually loses. The NCAA certainly has. When the SEC loses it will be the end of collegiate athletics, not as we know it but in its entirety because nothing can exist without some regulation and without a regulating body there is no regulation. Coupled with academia's inherent adversarial relationship with college athletics and academia being a source of WAY more money at ANY college AND indications that NIL is cutting down on academic donations the egg heads who actually run colleges will simply shut down athletics. No university is going to continue to be associated with any activity that is absent of any regulation. The downside is far too great.

If the two kids decide to sue the SEC because they wouldn't let them play for LSU even after they were told by a judge that they could, the SEC will lose. Supposedly, this lawsuit is going to happen too.

The other problem is that LSU alums are influential, currently, in congress with Mike Johnson. All Johnson has to do is to refuse the Protect College Sports Act and I doubt the Senate will get enough votes if they have to vote again.

The SEC never said they couldn't play for an SEC school, just that the SEC school could/would face repercussions for allowing them to. LSU chose not to face those repercussions.

They already have, and the Georgia poster is correct that the LSU saga strongly suggests the SEC does not have the power to disregard laws of states they operate in.
This was a weak legal position from the start, but LSU has to wait for the federal suit to either be dismissed or fail on merits before they can move forward with anything… because that is the only thing that could potentially shield the conference from contempt at this point

what exactly does ineligible to play in the sec mean to you...are you just trying to be an idiot?
And thank you for pointing out why the SEC is a bunch of idiots...their lawsuit against LSU was for what exactly? LSU broke no rules

I suspect you are correct 100%. I suspect that the SEC loses on both cases. The courts have thus far seemed to be of the opinion that there is no rule or regulation that limits a person's ability to earn money playing college football that is legitimate. To earn said money one has to be "eligible". To be eligible there has to be some sort of eligibility rule....since the courts seem to be of the opinion that there is no rule that is legit that limits earnings there can be no rule which says there can be any rule on eligibility that limits earnings. When this happens, and I think it is pretty damn quick although the appeals process will take some time, it will be the end of collegiate athletics, not as we know it or knew it but in any fashion and the reason is simple....the institutions who own the brands and logos only have an AD now to attract new students and get that brand and logo out there....when that brand and logo is being used by 28 year olds who were on a NFL roster and played in the NFL for 3 seasons is playing football in a uniform with UGAs name and logo on it and that same person has only set foot in Athens for practice and games and has never been associated in any manner with UGA as a student, because no eligibility limitations elminates that pesky academic eligibility, the school will simply quit fielding a team.
It will complete the destruction that was set in place YEARS ago when the universities enjoyed a nice profit center without paying the labor which made that profit center possible. And pretended it was to maintain the integrity of amateur athletices. That horse is out the barn and running down the road kicking its heels up.....
Without a regulatory body there is no regulation and without some authority to regulate there is no regulatory body.

The courts are going to toss it no matter what.
