Fayetteville is definitely different than any other SEC town. Its got a great bar scene, great local music scene, and lots to do. Its much more hippie-friendly. The townies are mainly earthy hippies. The city is full of parks and trails. Everywhere you look you see kayaks and canoes on peoples' rides. Even the rich people here are outdoors people. Doesn't hurt that we live in a region full of stuff like this:

you can get this at both schools. I'd even venture to say it's better to be Greek at Auburn than Ole Miss. Ole Miss has started cracking down while Auburn is still stuck in the 80s.

The one thing Ole Miss clearly beats Auburn in is nightlife, but Auburn has a better gameday atmosphere... unless you like drinking with old people and going to watch a mediocre team play in a lifeless stadium.

This is incorrect. There are no hot women at Duke.

I am, however, oblivious to where LSU stands w/ all the Greek shite.

LSU is cut and dry. If you want to join a fraternity, the greek life aint bad...it isn't what it used to be but you could definitely immerse yourself in it...sorostitutes, greek frequented bars, parties, trips etc.

If you don't want to go that way, baton rouge is big enough and has enough bars to escape that scene...and greeks don't run all the bars close to campus. Personally, i don't know that many greeks here...i was in a fraternity at another university and i'm in graduate school here at LSU so i don't associate myself with that scene here.

What i'm saying is...auburn and oxford arent big enough, IMO, to escape the greek scene...the bars..or usually bar in big greek cities like that are usually places no one wants to be seen. Baton Rouge anything goes. I love it here.

I recently asked Arkansas how UVA's a-hole tasted before the game was over, a game they came back and won. Dumber than that?

Ole Miss or Auburn for better "College Experience"?

Ole Miss has a better gameday experience, so I'm gonna go with them. OM has a wonderful, scenic campus. It's small, but that's what makes it great. I have no idea what it's like on a normal weekend, but it's one of the top party schools, good academic school, and a great town.

Not a bad drive to Memphis or Tunica from Oxford. The town of Oxford seems like a nice place to live or raise a family.

Jesus, I think I'm gonna vomit.

Same dilemma between Ole Miss and Bama...

Bama, to me, is just a much larger version of Ole Miss with better academics.

Ole Miss is alot closer to Memphis than Auburn to Atlanta. Memphis is better than Atlanta. Therefore, I say Ole Miss. Dont forget Tunica is close by Ole Miss too.

I respect that, Barry.
You are a hater, yet you put the hate aside for this post.

So I'll concede that I might be a closet LSU fan.

better education? I know Auburn isnt Yale, but they are better than Ole Miss

It depends on what you want to do.
If you want to be a Lawyer or a accountant, Ole Miss is much better from an educational standpoint. Ole Miss has a top 100 business school too, I don't know about Auburn.

If you want to be an engineer, a veternarian, or a farmer
then Auburn is better. (I was kidding about the farming thing)

Anything else is probably a push, and I would pick Ole Miss in an educational push, of course I do see the world through red and blue glasses.

I don't know about that. Auburn's actual in-game atmosphere is far superior to Ole Miss'. As far as tailgating goes, I understand The Grove is unique, but Auburn is more laxed about drinking on gamedays, and in my opinion, have more fun tailgates.

Not according to BusinessWeek. What ranking are you referring to?

LINK /

The only SEC schools in BusinessWeek's top 100 are UF, LSU and Arkansas, FYI. Edit: and Carolina.

I would say Ole Miss because I would rather experience their coeds than AUs.

Of course you can cherrypick from different places to make things say whatever you want.

That being said, as an AU Business grad, let me defend my school.

Auburn's undergraduate business program was ranked 48th in the nation, according to the 2008 U.S. News & World Report rankings. Among public institutions, AU's business program is 29th. The U.S. News & World Report's 2009 edition of "America's Best Graduate Schools" ranked the College of Business 66th.

Overall the University is ranked 45th among public universities nationwide by USN&WR and has been in the top 50 for the past 15 years.

Typically the USN&WR rankings are the ones referred to in the media each year when they come out.
