How do you figure Ole Mis has a better gameday experience? Auburn has one of the largest and loudest football stadiums in the entire United States. Ole Miss has a freaking high school football stadium

Wasn't really referring to the actual game, but the tailgating. Should have been more clear on that. Yes, I have been to both, and my personal preference as sad as it is to say is Oxford. I actually like the Grove. I just do my own thing. I put an LSU tent up, and have a good time. Just make sure you check the penal codes before you go there to make sure they haven't installed any new regulations you have to abide by.

I had fun at AU also. Their stadium is awesome, and the atmosphere of the stadium is awesome.

And for the people who keep saying academics should be involved. I was going on the question at hand. The "College Experience" for me doesn't include academia b/c how would any of us know that unless we attended classes at other universities. The "College Experience" for me is having fun, and not about going to class.

Another thread should be started to discuss that.

I'd go to Ole Miss if I had to choose between the two.

I majored in NONE of these, so before you go spouting off anymore of your usual bullshite, I just want to nip that in the bud.

BUT, have you ever thought that some people want to find something they are good at, and major in that? OR just MAYBE someone wants to find a job they are actually going to LIKE, b/c me personally, would fricking hate to be an accountant. And I'm actually good working with numbers, but would HATE my life if I did it for a living.

Just because someone doesn't major in accounting, engineering, or go to med school doesn't mean they are a dumbass.

Then how the frick are you going to answer the question? Have you taken classes at LSU?

What's the first thing that pops into your head when someone asks how's the college experience at OM? I sure as shite wouldn't be thinking about my accounting homework.

College Experience is about having fun, not doing a goddamn paper.

No, but attending class is absolutely part of the college experience dumbass. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain the number one reason someone goes to college is to get a degree?

And what did you major in big guy?

Don't think that was the point in the thread. How are we going to answer that for him? I have neither taken classes at AU or OM you fricking tool. So why post it for everybody else to answer the goddamn question?

How are you going to distinguish between classes at AU or OM?

If you are just average in a lot of these other degrees and rack up a shite ton of loans you weren't very intelligent in your college decisions. Many people should go to smaller colleges to major in many of these degrees.

The big college secret is to save your money by going to a cheaper school for undergrad and spend all your money on a big time school for graduate school.

1. You are getting the most for your money.
2. Your undergrad might be easier and it is still very possible to get into a shite ton of graduate schools.

Because his major and the classes he will be taking are the most important part of college.

As I stated in a post above, he's going to get drunk and have fun ANYWHERE he goes (especially at an SEC school) so who cares? Go to the school that has a good program for what he is doing and the school that his parents can afford (debt sucks)

OP:

Accounting: Ole Miss (top 20)

Engineering: Auburn (my dad is an electrical engineer and he has commented multiple times on how strong the engineering program is at Auburn)

Management: Shoot yourself

Marketing: See above

Pharmacy: Ole Miss (great program)

Medicine: Probably either, just depends on where you want to work

Political Science: you're an idiot.

Had scholarships to OM and MS State, but I wanted to go to LSU. That's what I did. Paid out of state tuition, but I don't care. It's my life, and I wanted to do this.

In Grad School now, so it worked out for me.

This guy gets it. Not to mention, your graduate degree is far more important to employers than your undergraduate degree.

My dad did this. He got a full scholarship to Nevada and then went to graduate school at a private school in California that is considered one of the best schools in the country.

Auburn has a pharmacy program also. This would be a case IMO of choosing based on money and then the other stuff(football, parties).

I will say I think it is fricking ridiculous the desire for some girls to just go to Ole Miss to be in their greek life.

agreed. I enjoyed my 3 years in a fraternity but it gets old fast. It was fun meeting people/going to swaps/date parties/formals but I'm glad I'm done with that.

I must have missed it, but I didn't see where he wrote any other information about his major. If he did, then I'm wrong. If I had seen it, then I would think it would be a VERY big deal on where he chooses to go. It was a VERY general question to begin with.

I agree with this, but I stated earlier I think a person would have more fun in a town like Oxford. Just seems like there is more to do. That's JMO.

This is where you lose me. There are TONS of jobs out there that do not require you to have a specialized degree. If a person does not want to be a vet, doctor, lawyer, engineer, or even an accountant, they can still make a VERY good living majoring in management, marketing, etc.

For example, got an uncle who majored in marketing at USM, and I would bet you a $1000 he makes more money than your dad who is an engineer. He's works in sales, but that didn't require an accounting degree to get that job.

Even after reading about your dad, I would still bet money on it. That's how much this cat makes.

cool but for every ONE of those guys there's 1000 engineers/accountants/lawyers who are making that much more than some management or marketing major.

And you can make a bunch of money in sales, but that's something that is difficult to teach and is more intuitive. Sales is tough, but if you're good at it the sky is the limit.

EDIT: I'm not saying that you absolutely cannot do well majoring in a shitty business major, however you are absolutely putting yourself at a disadvantage when juxtaposed with people who have majored in legitimate majors.

I can't believe we are actually agreeing with each other. You are right, but some people either don't have the smarts or just want to get a degree b/c ANY degree will get you a decent job. Maybe not making 50-60Gs right out of the gate, but helluva lot more than flipping burgers.

Which is why I'm in grad school b/c I want to make alot more money.

Agree also, but you don't need a big-time degree for this line of work. It's all up to you. If a person has a good head on their shoulders, and is a people-person, chances are they can major in some ordinary degree.

Well if they are, then that's better for you. I always thought in my accounting classes, that someone could probably come up with a better process for it to make it easier. BUT if it was easy, then everybody would want to be an accountant.

I don't think there is necessarily anything wrong with getting those degrees. I think it is not smart to rack up huge loans to do it.

An good engineer should be making around $100,000 easy within 10 years from what I have heard from people getting jobs. The only ones I would say that probably wouldn't would be working for the govt.(they have ridiculous benefits and still have some of the highest salaries).

Yeah I think most engineers with over 10 years of experience or so who work for good companies are pulling at least 100 but usually closer to 150.
