Agreed. Hopefully we can have a Top 15 class next year though. This year was a perfect storm of recruiting, to where I don't expect it next year, but hopefully we can have a good class built on the momentum of another promising year.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that you could beat TWO of those teams in a season either. The key to Ole Miss' success is getting a few top classes and add depth.

Realistic.

Ole Miss HAS to pull from other areas and it won't happen consistently.

We shall see. Freeze has had one full year of recruiting and he signed a top 5 class. If he can lock down Mississippi like Vaught did in the 50's and 60's (and I think he's fully capable of it) then he will get a lot of talent from here and will be able to pull a few other big time recruits from other states.

ETA: I don't think we get consistent top 5 classes but anual top 15 is certainly in the realm of possibility.

Finished 3rd.
We had a 4-4 SEC record, LSU had a 5-3 record then there was Bama of course.

We will compete for big seasons (possibly) every 3 yrs or so, but if we can consistently win 7-8 games on down years this will be a huge step up. Really funny the angst of my LSU buddies at work today who can't believe a kid would choose Ole Miss over LSU even though one of my buddies who I talked with the longest has never even been to Oxford.

OK, sorry my memory was faulty. Thought LSU also had a 4-4, and since we beat them, I thought that would make us second.

It would be a safe bet that you've never stepped foot in Tuscaloosa.

Nkemdiche was the key to this class, he recruited the other blue chippers to follow him. It's a flash in the pan. This class could possibly make it as high as 2nd in the SEC West...but I doubt it!

Ole Miss outscored Bama in the second half this season. Ole Miss should have and very easily could have beaten LSU. Ole Miss was raping A&M and they were so good that they turned the ball over 6 times. Both of these teams lose a ton of talent. We lose none. It is very much in the realm of possibility that Ole Miss will squeak out wins against LSU and A&M. Deal with it.

You dumbasses remember Eli's and Nutt's first two years, right?

To be fair, the West wasn't very good in those years. Arkansas and MSU sucked, no A&M, Auburn was meh, Alabama was good in Nutts years but not Elis. LSU sucked in Nutts 2 years so both times OM really only had 1 good team to overcome and they couldn't do it either time.
