A little note about LSU's '12 recruiting class.

I don't think it was that low but, it defenitely wasn't what Miles was use to signing.

By season's end LSU had FOUR true freshmen STARTING. Another had started a couple of games then was lost the rest of the regular season to injury. All told LSU played 16-17 true freshmen last year.

The overall class might not have been great but, it had the best group of LBs LSU ever signed in one class. The secondary signees were outstanding and a couple of O-linemen will be all SEC quality.

I love how every Bama, LSU, T AM fan in this thread is so close minded that the thought of an "upset" happening to them seems impossible to lowly OM. Everyone of you who seriously believe our ceiling is 4th in the division must not watch very much football. Upsets happen. Things could very easily fall our way with the way college football goes. Im not saying we are instantly going to challenge for 1st in the West but NOBODY knows what the landscape of football will look like 2 or 3 years from now.

Most OM fans dont expect to make it to Atlanta this year, we just want continued improvement. Sometimes finishing 2nd in the division will get you into the BCS (Florida tis year) Even tho the play off system will change everything. Ole Miss fans are just excited to have hope about our future. Its not out of the realm of possibility for us to have some upsets and a few other breaks go our way. I mean isn't that why we all love college football? Every Saturday is a new chance?

All that said I think we could win anywhere fromo 7-9 regular season games this year. Any Rebel fans be upset about that?

They need depth, so they need to have a couple of good to great recruiting classes.

Building off this class, what are they capable of?

IF Frezze IS ABLE to maintain somewhat of the success he had recruiting i.e. Top 15 recruiting classes.

I would say we would be able to compete for the 2-4 range of the SEC West. And then Once or twice in a ten year span give the West a run for it's money for the West Championship.

NOT saying we WILL make it to the SEC championship but that one or two years out of ten that we could make it competative enough that it might come down to one game ... let's say against LSU & if you win you go & if you lose you stay at home. Kinda like 2003 ...

Very well said and to answer your question no I would not be upset about that after what we have went through to get to this point. As long as I can see continued improvement I will be happy ... thats all you can really ask for if you think about it.

I'd be disappointed with 7. 8 would be OK, and 9 would be a good season, IMO. But, like you said, upsets happen, and that's what it would take to get anything more than 8.
