I understand fan expectations. But ole miss is at best 4th in the west on a good year.

Except for the fact that we’ve finished 1st, so this makes no sense.

The gap between Bama, LSU, Auburn, and Ole Miss is the grand fricking canyon.

It was only a few years ago in ‘14 and ‘15 that we beat Bama in back to back years. So nope, try again.

I feel strongly that firing Luke was a bad decision.

Well I hope you’re sitting down bc I have some fantastic news for you, he is on the market and available to coach. Since you feel so strongly about it I’d suggest you begin campaigning that Auburn hire him.

There is nothing more condescending than someone telling fans and alumni of a school that they should settle for mediocrity because it will always be that way. Imagine applying this same logic to education or your employment: don't study or work hard because you'll never amount to anything.

You should settle for mediocrity, it's easier.

If we had an interim turned HC that had done that Id probably want him gone too, and its not like we're top dog in the East

Get a grip folks. Matt Luke had y’all competitive in the wake of sanctions. He was a much better coach than morehead and if y’all gave him time he would have built y’all into a perineal 7-5 team.

Y’all literally pissed on your leg and said it was raining

Ole Miss fans are indeed some of the most delusional fans I know, but not about firing Matt Luke. Matt Luke did exactly what he was supposed to do ie steer the ship during sanctions. Now that that's out of the way, they can hire a real coach.

Well y’all can fire Gus and hire Luke. He is available.

According to Wikipedia's collected data, Ole Miss was awarded its national titles by Clyde Berryman, the Dunkel System, and Jeff Sagarin (1959); the Billingsley Report, the College Football Researchers Association, Harry DeVold, Dunkel again, the Football Writers Association of America, the National Championship Foundation (which appears similar to the Researchers Association), and something called the Williamson System (1960); and Billingsley again, something called Litkenhous that appears to be affiliated with the Louisville Courier-Journal and is often used for high school football, and Sagarin again (1962).

1959 was a long time ago. Is that still fueling fan expectations?

LSU has as many football national championships as Ole Miss.

Let that sink in.

Not until the 2000’s did LSU become a consistent big winner-when it hired an up and coming Nick Saban.

Remember Curley Hallman? Remember Gerry Dinardo?

LSU fans suffer from mass memory loss and delusions of grandeur. I hate to break it to you: you’re no Bama.

This is the problem. The rest of the SEC thinks OM should be a 6-6 team every year. Beat Vandy and win one of Ark and State and lose to everyone else. That is not the expectation. Until you get that out of your head you will not understand OM. 6-6 is not good enough. 4-4 in the SEC most years is the expectation. 6-6,5-7,4-8 is not good enough. Not even close.

Luke could have accomplished 4-4 in the SEC in another year or two easily.

Your fan base doesn’t seem to understand that losing scholarships and bowl sanctions don’t really hurt you that much until about two years after they are out in place. Because THAT’S when those players you would have normally got as recruits would be really contributing.

This was a mistake that will set Ole Miss back another 2-3 years from getting where it wants to be.

Without spurrier you would still have an all time losing record. Stfu.

A good number of LSU fans arrived during Saban. They used to be really bad.

Don’t tell them this. They have no memory of that and they might get really upset.

No one else is you stupid frick and honestly, Bama will probably never be “Bama” again.

But we have the resources and the recruiting grounds to win a national championship. That is something Ole Miss just does not have.

Oh and about your “national championships”....

Your own retort proves my point. Who would've thought little ole South Carolina could get Spurrier, win the East, win 11 games three years in a row and beat Clemson five years in a row, when our history was sub .500 football prior to 2005? But Ole Miss should just settle for 4-8? Give me a break.
