@BarrettSallee: I got asked the other day which two SEC West teams are the biggest threats to Alabama. They are, without a doubt, Ole Miss and Arkansas. I trust Lane Kiffin to keep that train rolling, and Sam Pittman is building something special in Fayetteville.

This tweet really resonates with me.

Ole Miss always gets hype but never lives up to it.

This isn't true. In my life, I can remember Ole Miss being "hyped" twice: once in 2009 and the other time in 2015. We lived up to the hype in 2015, but not in 2009.

Do you know how rare it is for the Rebs to be ranked in a preseason poll? Here is the last few times it has happened:
- 2016
- 2015
- 2014
- 2009
- 2000
- 1970

I don't know the schedules and what games are at Alabama or on the road but Ole Miss would be low on this list for me. I'd put A&M, Arky, and even Miss St with Rogers coming back before Ole Miss. Add in LSU if they land Caleb Williams.

We got some hype this season only after the season kicked off. And we lived up to it.

Ole Miss just lost its 1st round draft pick QB, it’s OC and DC. Lane is a good coach but I’m not putting much stock into them unless they land a good QB like Jaxson Dart. If they do they can beat anybody on any given day but won’t play consistently well enough to win the SEC West.

I’ve always said that Barrett Sallee is clearly a student of the game and brings a keen eye for talent to his reporting. The man just gets it.

Wil be interesting to see how Lane does.

He won 10 games at USC then the next year went 7-6, won 11 at FAU then went 5-7.
