Now there are rules that the SEC will try to penalize you if you play a player that was ruled ineligible and the courts said otherwise.
Yep.
They should apply to ALL players that are in that situation.
Given this rule is so quick to be made and passed should be quick to addend

I am curious. Is it different when Lane says it, or does it only count when someone else from another school says it? Maybe it really is "Just different" at LSU

5 for 5 specifically does not apply to the 2022 class.
Not really the point I was trying to make in that post. The point is/was, it not the time a player has played, it's the Pro back to college that has everyone stirred up.

Brother, most of these guys got paid more in college than they did for their cup of coffee in the NFL. Disqualifying players because of who is paying them is a paper thin defense.

You can speculate, but you cannot say that definitively. The NCAA INTENTIONALLY didn't make the 5-for-5 rule retroactive. So the 2022 class had already exhausted its eligibility under the old 4-for-5 rules in 2025-26, and the NCAA's transition rule explicitly says those athletes get no additional eligibility. The new rule applies to the appropriate incoming/current classes, not retroactively to everyone who had already finished. So “they wouldn't have done any of that if they knew they were eligible” is backwards. They weren't eligible under the rules in effect when they made those decisions, and the NCAA explicitly decided the new 5-for-5 rules would not apply to them
So you agree the players Keith Carter is in negotiations with are ineligible.
Thanks.

The issue isn't who paid them more. It's whether they crossed the NCAA's line into professional football. The NCAA has always treated participation in professional leagues differently from NIL compensation. You can argue that distinction is outdated, but “they made more in college” doesn't make the distinction disappear.

They are ineligible.
He is knowingly negotiating with ineligible players.
He is a threat to the league, the game and this country.

I want to know which players are currently on LSU's roster that LSU would be punished for

NFL minicamps clearly cross the NCAAs line.
Traditionally even having an agent crossed that line
Getting too old crossed another NCAA line.
I’m all for banning all ineligible players

I think Ole Miss fans have said several times that we were looking at bringing in an OL. Not breaking news.

Reading is hard isn't it?
quote:
To me, there are some fifth-years that, through whatever mechanism, whether it’s a TRO or an injunction, have become eligible, but they never signed a pro contract,”
And it never said that they we "in negotiations with them. It said they would consider talking to them IF they because eligible. Is that too difficult to understand?

Not at all. Read what he ACTUCALLY said.

A poor understanding of what an injunction is doesn’t make it any different. They are ineligible by the ncaa but the ncaa cannot act on it.
An injunction prevents a party from taking action while litigation is ongoing.
This is what will be granted to multiple players this week and some players this past March.

Lane has said the same.
Somehow that doesn't matter here.

"There's a lot of parts of this I don't like. I don't think professionals should come back to college sports and college football. Do I believe NFL players should come back to college? No.
However, I will operate at the highest level within the rules to give LSU the most competitive advantage as possible. As are many other major programs. When the rules and laws change, we will operate at the highest level at that time within the rules."
