I was going on a fishing trip down in Southeast Arkansas and wanted to eat there for awhile and found it gone. I was confused until I did some research and it burned down. It was hard to visit because they had irregular hours.

I know the exact store you are talking about in Fountain Hill.
Kind of reminds me of a store near Pansy, AR that I used to go to all the time while growing up. There was the remnants of an old cotton gin across the road from it. Sadly I think the store has been torn down and there is a fricking Dollar General in it's place.

Love these old stores. I'm in my 40s so old enough that a lot were still around in my younger days, especially driving backroads from Pensacola to Tuscaloosa during college. Remember one that looked a lot the OP picture somewhere between Monroeville and Camden AL.
I came by one that's still open on Hwy 31 just east of Atmore AL in a "town" called Wawbeek, basically this old general store and silo in the middle of some cotton fields. They have some antiques and sell RCs, moon pies, sausage and hoop cheese (with free saltine crackers).
Wish some of these towns and counties would have had money to keep them up as historical landmarks.
They alone would be reason for tourists to take a drive through some blue road towns.

quote:that works, as a Georgia guy, I prefer Co-Cola, but Pepsi is legit, as it’s a NC company
Your store has a big pepsi sign and a pepsi machine out front.

Can verify. This is 15 minutes from my house. It’s also the oldest continuously open store in Arkansas.
We stopped at this really cool country store outside of Hattiesburg, MS this weekend. We just have seen 20 watermelon stands between there and Jackson. Unreal!

Consumption of Pepsi, aka Soviet Cola, is linked to male pattern baldness, erectile dis-function, and foot odor.

It could’ve been me in the 70s. We had Lance’s peanuts for the Cokes. Plenty of Moon Pies and RCs on hand too.
I meant that a lot of kids today don't know what they're missing like peanuts in coke...or cornbread in milk
