Unbelievable what Mizzu did this year playing for the Championship there second year in. They are an impressive Football team and very strong in BBall as well. A great addition in my opinion. A&M finishing middle of the pack in the west each year was nice too. Tough conference.

what would money or tv markets have to do with the first 2 years? these both encompass the addition of both teams regardless of the number of years.
I am talking long term and the way the SEC network will work. ESPN will demand different rates depending on whether it is "in market" or "out of market." ESPN will get in market rates for both Texas and Missouri now. That will generate a lot of money for all schools - noticeably more. There are also more compelling matchups which generate ratings. Long term win.
It is all about geographic population and having compelling programming that cable subscribers demand in that area. It doesn't work unless you have both. The SEC and B1G are the huge winners in this new world. The expansion was close to perfect.

0 if the alternative is staying at 12.

SEC had to expand to keep up with the Jones and it could not have picked two better schools for TV market and the teams themselves. Both have made the conference more exciting and entertaining. Aggies are fricking weird but it makes them an easy and fun target to frick with.

On a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being frick these chodes why are they in our conference, 10 being these are two solid additions and I'm glad we snatched up before another conference did.
I simply look at it with the goal in mind and that is to raise revenue from your additions. I would give it an 8. I would give it a 10 but Mizzou had a bad year last year. You all have done well to capture viewer interest in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, KC, and St Louis. Mo Money for all!

I understand this rational if staying at 12 was an alternative, but it wasn't, for reasons already given. I also understand the traditionalist viewpoint on not wanting to add new members. Hell I'm a traditionalist myself, and honestly, our best fit is on the old Big 8, but in todays world of big money and tv markets, that conference would never make it.
With that being said, most of us understand why Mizzou and aTm seeked greener pastures and what they bring to the table. And from a logistic standpoint, both states border SEC states already. It just makes sense in the conference expansion era. Personally, Mizzou couldn't of landed in a better conference and we are damn proud and thankful we are here.

both schools have worked out as welcome additions to the conference...

I remember hating it when they added Arkansas and South Carolina. It's obvious that was necessary to keep up with others. The two newest teams have been great additions. I hardly ever question what the sec office does. Those people know how to run a conference and we should all thank them for what they do and be glad we have leadership like that instead of the clowns that run the big 10 and big 12

Well, until we each teach our MILFs how to properly respond in the face of a significant loss, I'm not 100% sure we've actually arrived.

I can understand some of you not crazy about expansion.
But look at what the Jones's are doing. How would you like be asked to rate the addition of Rutgers and Maryland in your conference.
Or Syracuse and Pitt

Both have been good additions. In a few more years, hardly anyone will remember that they were the new kids on the block.

I can understand and respect that. The college football world is changing though and old rivalries doesn't matter as much as they use to. I don't particularly endorse the new expansion era craziness, but am glad where we landed.

Mizzou has had a solid team for awhile now, and the Aggies, has had potential for a long time. They just needed to get out of the Longhorns' shadow. Plus, helps Bama having the Aggies here. They will help raid Louisiana some now for recruits.

I agree with you assessment on scheduling. We need to go to a 6-2-1 format very soon and do away with allowing us to play FCS teams. As a fan, I hate these games.
I always thought we belong in the SEC. We should have come with Arkansas in '92. I thought for sure that we were headed "home" in '96, but state politics forced us into a bad marriage in the XII. It took us 20 years to get here, but we are finally home.
I think Missouri will be a good long term fit, but I feel that they were the league's third choice behind VT and OU. And we all know that MU would have preferred the B1G but Nebraska took their spot. No doubt they rode our coat tails after we had the ordeal of leaving the XII that they didn't have.
At any rate, it's nice to see the old Confeseracy come back together as the SEC. TAMU certainly has deep, old Southern Roots.

And this is a news flash to you? You've only played us, what, 50 fricking times or so during your history? You've played us more than you've played many SEC teams.
Arkansas has played us about 70 times, and they act like it is a news flash that we are weird.
Both of you need to shut the frick up and just get a damn jar! And quit acting so surprised.
