When Jerry opened the new Cowboy stadium, he really wanted OU-Texas game to be moved there. Once he couldn’t get that he created the Southwest classic with Arkansas and A&M. Now that, that series is over, Jerry will make the the money too much for them to say no.
It would blow up in his face. The #1 reason that game stays packed is b/c it's at the Texas State Fair. Moving it to Cowboys Stadium would completely ruin the atmosphere of the game and it would eventually look like the A&M/Pig game w/about 15-20k empty seats. Nobody wants to pay New Years Day bowl prices to go hang out in a sea of concrete in an area w/almost nothing to do other than go to overpriced as hell Texas Live. May as well go back to home and home if it's not at the Cotton Bowl.

Know how I know you know nothing about this 120 year old rivalry?
Actually it's more likely that your Jerry World alliance with aggy was a huge flop and you're just jelly.
Dallas is actually slightly closer to Norman than Austin, and no true alumni (or fan) of either school wants the game anywhere else.

Not fair to the rest of the conference and sucks in general. Same with the worlds largest cocktail party.. a shame those teams dont ever have to step into the other teams stadium. Smells of punta.

It gives them an excuse to get out of the suckage that is Oklahoma. Also a lot of people from Oklahoma live in the D/FW metro anyway..
What Texas fans want to travel to Oklahoma anyway? They have fans that are crazy enough to try to casterate people wearing Texas shirts in bars there.. What could go wrong if a boatload of Texas fans had to travel to Norman?

It used to the best but once they stoped calling it the Red River shootout then it lost all credibility

I think y’all overestimate how much people that aren’t Texas and OU fans care about this game.
Historically, how do the ratings stack up against other matchups during the season?

Didnt even know it was a thing until ESPN tried to make it the midwest Mich/OSU circa 2008

We didn’t join this conference to change up this tradition. This game needs no tweaks. Stay in your lane.

More so than a home and home?
Seems debatable.
A lots changed the last few years so I’m not sure how it exactly works now but a recruit in the Dallas area can “go to the game” without it being an official visit. If you don’t provide the means for the recruit and family to get to the game it’s not an official visit. Okie is always want to recruit the Dallas area.

Arkansas fans should stay quiet about things they know nothing about.
The vast majority of OU fans like it the way it is.

The same could be said for OU fans traveling to Austin. Yikes. We would worry about our safety if we have to show up to the bars in Austin wearing Crimson and Cream.

Many OU grads move to Dallas, where there are jobs.
