Plus, Stoops was struggling getting recruits and transfers. He was going the Juco route, which was a dud.

LSU comes to Lexington next season

Let's be sure to bump those comments from the coonasses when Stein rawdogs Lane right out of the gate

His official record was 72-80 as he had 10 wins taken by that bastion of integrity and fair play, the NCAA. He lost 11 straight SEC games, and we hadn't beaten a P-4 team on our home field for two years, until we beat Florida. He lost his edge recruiting., we are ranked 64th in high school recruiting and the outlook was grim. He and his staff made poor choices on who they spent NIL money on. I can't even remember our last win against a P-4 team with a winning record. We have been passed by everyone.

If he's the guy I hope he's good. I worry he's never had head coaching experience but I like that better than the Dan Mullen option some people were pushing online.

That’s all fair, I guess.

So what’s the expectation with Stein?

He was an assistant at the high school level just 6 seasons ago. Is he ready to lead an SEC program? Seems like a big leap.

Despite playing for Louisville, he's always bled blue.

Sure, sure,,,but UL's 41-0 slaughter of UK this past weekend was a win-win for him; his former team won and he gets to be a head coach.

The only people questioning the firing of Stoops are those that want to see us keep failing.

Well the good news is he only has to win 4 games a year to keep us from falling off I suppose

We expect to see an offense that is well coached. Look his first couple seasons may be rough. What we expect to see is improvement and the end of brain dead play calling. Then we expect to see a positive build and in 3 years or 4 be competitive in the SEC

Making it out like a letterman from your arch rival is “one of your own” is a little weird.

I wonder why UK waited until after we hired Sumrall to fire Stoops.

Headline of that screenshot doesn't say he's the new HC.

The only part I questioned was the timing given the extremely competitive coaching search landscape right now. I was afraid UK would stuck with a leftover type candidate after the other big open jobs all got filled.

But I am very happy to have been wrong about that.

Gotta give credit to Barnhart. I didn't think he had this kind of move in him. He just ran circles around the ADs of half the SEC plus Penn State with how this was handled.

I'm guessing they didn't have the agreement from Stoops to spread out the buyout until then. Well assuming that's actually happened. Or maybe we didn't have the donor money for the buy out until after that horrible Louisville game.

Mostly though our AD still writes hand written letters and doesn't really use the internet ??

He looks like he can play the mandolin in a blue grass band. Solid hire for UK.
