But when you play it so many times at each game it loses its luster.

How Many Times Will You Hear Rocky Top?

quote:

According to the Tennessean, it's a band tradition for a senior trombone player to keep track of how often the marching band plays "Rocky Top" each season. During the 2016 season, the report said, the Pride of the Southland Band played it 438 times.

34 renditions a game. Just too much.

LSU's official fight song is "Fight for LSU," but the most iconic song associated with LSU is LSU pregame.

The lyrics to that song is some real 1920s cheesy stuff. Cool intro though

Rammer Jammer and Dixieland delight are badass I admit. Love the OG video from the student endzone pre-censorship days of the repeated of “frick Aubun” chants.

It’s one of those fight sings where it’s best played and not sang

Is that supposed to be an insult? Kinda like how you all have adopted a checkerboard from your rival school? S’cute.

We have a uniquely iconic fight song. I’m sorry you don’t like it and hope you can get over it, dude.

Brah we had checkerboard in 1930. You all started doing that shite in 1964.

Our checkerboard derives from the checkerboard pattern atop Ayers Hall, which opened in 1921.

I guess technically Kentucky had a coach rocking houndstooth before Alabama did, yet you don’t see Kentucky fans desperately wanting to claim that.

The Checkerboard is a Tennessee’s thing, but you guys go ahead and imitate Big Brother. Each sport looks adorable in them

The checkerboard on our uniforms actually has nothing to do with you, but it's a stupid Nike made tie in to Secretariats racing silks and the Kentucky derby.

We also still had checkers on grass first

It pains me to admit it, but in principle I actually like Rocky Top. It is musically a great song. I prefer a bluegrass band version to a marching band, but apart from that I have no legitimate critique of it.

Ever wonder why most fans know the words to their fight songs, but very few bama fans do.

I wouldn't be so proud of that

Google "John Wayne Interview, Playboy Magazine, maybe 1970ish"

See what pops

I read the article, wouldn't want that guy whistling my fight song in a WWII Movie

No, and if you can't tell that, well, it speaks to your intelligence.

And the whole checkerboard thing was done by UK before UT. It's not a big deal really, but you don't know that either.

I’ll confess to liking Rocky Top as a song. Some of the old bluegrass versions of it are bad arse IMO

Rocky Top as a country song is great. Hearing it 500 times at a game sucks. IMO, even as an LSU fan, Auburn’s fight song is the best (next to ours, of course)
