at this point, with all the leaks, your AD just needs to come out with a presser today

if healthy, he would be the best hire of the SEC this go around. which is saying something considering who we are hiring

Matta is basically Calipari light. Of course we are excited.

After the last 4 years I will be excited about whomever is announced as the coach

Simmer down young padawan
If it is Matta, this is as good a hire as we could have hoped for (assuming he is healthy). At worst we'll be NCAAT competitive and at best, who knows.
It would be the 2nd best coaching hire based on the resume of the coach in Big 2 Alabama athletics history only to Saban.

I'm pretty indifferent about getting a coach that made the tournament 13 of 17 seasons as a head coach and has 439-154 overall record.

Very good hire if true.
The last 2 hires for Bama has been a mid-major coach didn't get past the 2nd round at VCU. And an NBA coach with no college experience.
This would be the most-accomplished and qualified coach Alabama has ever hired.

This seems eerily similar to how close we were to hiring him last year. Thought it came out that there was something in his separation from Ohio state that he had to at least interview for a position each year to receive his buyout in full or something to that end?

What if I offered you a one time NBA coach of the year that led his team to the NBA playoffs 4 of 6 years (1 Finals run)

Anyone know how his health issues are after a few years off?
Chronic back issues and a botched foot operation had the ole boy nearly ready to go behind the barn when he left OSU.

He has been to 2 Final Fours before. Bama has never been to a Final Four, so it would appear to be a solid hire. Maybe his best coaching is behind him, but maybe it's not. He did very well at Xavier and at Ohio State, so at least he has been consistently successful.
