I think they lose at least 3 games this season if we are being honest.

Do we, though? Ohio State spent a decade cruising through a truly terrible football conference, and now has a sort-of-peer challenger, and hasn't risen to the occasion. They rode it to routine playoff spots with embarassing losses. Skepticism may well be warranted, as that game may just be a question of which team is a bigger fraud.

Ohio State is legitimately talented and beats UGA if their DB doesn’t trip last year. They aren’t as consistently excellent as Alabama and UGA but they are in the next tier.

Notre Dame

We were laughing during the game that they probably feel disrespected starting ranked 13th, vs. the absurdly undeserved top 10 ranking they just about always get.

Best take I’ve seen is Rivals guy Justin Rowland:

“ND is the same as always.
Powerful OL, efficient QB play, strong run game, solid defense, and enough of a lack of playmakers that you just gotta hope this team doesnt take a
CFP spot.”

We'll all figure out, eventually, that a bunch of these rankings are just the media telling us who to watch. Nobody sinks more in the rankings, once the season gets started, quite like Notre Dame. Of course, nobody else has their own NBC television deal quite like Notre Dame.

I think Hartman is dope but I don't think the offensive gives him the best chance to be successful. Dude was a baller at getting the ball out quick at Wake everything was so slow developing yesterday.

Someone said in the game chat that he doesn't put zip on the ball and I think that was because even curl routes and the running game took forever.

You can road grade Navy but you're not going to be able to do that to Ohio State and he's going to get pummeled if the passing game takes that long to develop. I do like their backs etc but I don't think it's the system they need to have if they want to win big this year. They need to spread the field more and get the ball out quickly

I also don't get the point of only throwing it 23 times. If you're going to go to Ireland to play scrubs might as well work on stuff

Navy almost beat them last season… y’all do realize that don’t you?

ND will look like Navy did when they step up in competition. Have you somehow missed all the BCS bowl games, lone BCS championship game and their two playoff games? They were blown out in all of them and looked like they were playing in quicksand.

ND looked slow to me. They don't look like they would hold up to legitimate competition.

We do indeed know that; Navy is in full transition as a program under a new coach, and is starting a long and painful ground up rebuild, as we also know.

Notre Dame did look good. Not every team that out talents their opponent comes out of the gate looking sharp and clean to start the year. They could be an interesting team to keep an eye on.

ND does an amazing job in scheduling. They would crumble in a week in, week out grind. But they're awesome as far as booking brand names a few years past their prime.

And the kids play to that. The entire program caters to that.

Off topic, but Notre Dame is going to be forreal this season.
Navy did look really small up front, but Notre Dame as a top OT and 3 solid RBs.

Notre Dame has always had good OL just lacked defense and QB.

They have a real QB now.

Who was the HC that failed to get those things done?

Agreed. You may hate them but OSU is no fraud. Not sure ND can beat them Clemson or USC but they have a puncher’s chance now. Without Hartman they probably lose all 3

Lets see what they do on the road in 2 weeks at NC State. Then I will join the conversation. Then they have Ohio St 2 weeks later. Oh yeah and they play USC and Clemson later in the year. They have a tough road ahead.

9-3, 10-2 at best for this squad.
