Guy on YouTube ranks Fight Songs. If you watch his Top 25 you get small schools like Southern included. Anyway, here’s his ranking of the SEC. I post this mainly so you can hear all the songs. Nobody in the conference has a “bad” one including Vandy who ranks 16.

Regardless of the ranking what’s your favorite besides your own? Mine is the Aggie War Hymn. A bit too long but a great song.

PS: he only ranks official Fight Songs. No Rocky Top, Battle Hymn, or TigerRag.

For those who only want to argue rankings, here they are:

16 Vandy
15 USC
14 Mizzou
13 Ole Miss
12 Arkansas
11 LSU
10 Florida
9 Kentucky
8 UGA
7 Tennessee
6 Aggies
5 Miss State
4 Bama
3 Auburn
2 Oklahoma
1 Texas

Why would anyone rate the Bama circus music fight song in the top half?

You’re free to ask him. It’s just an opinion.

I am bias so I think Tennessee is top 5. Nothing is more frustrating than hearing Bama. Just puts me in a bad mood

A good fight song needs to be in 4/4 time signature.

Missouri’s is underrated. Very collegiate and has the same sound as a Notre Dame or Michigan…classic fight songs. But Alabama is my favorite. Sounds like college football and not a Tide fan.

All these World Cup events and this thread got me thinking about college marching bands. No one, no sport in the world has a tradition like the American college marching band. Other countries have bands, music taught in their schools and they will march in parades, but not sporting events. In my line of work, I deal with foreigners working in the US. I've brought several clients to Auburn games. They were mesmerized by the marching band. 2 of the guys (from Columbia) live in DC. They love the NFL. They attend Ravens and Commanders games a lot. They took out their phones just to record the band and their formations on the field. He asked me why the NFL doesn't have these bands.
2 guys from Germany, (of course they love soccer) came to an Auburn game with me. We were waiting to go in the stadium and Auburn's band marched by. The majorettes came by, twirling their batons. The 2 Germans mouths fell open and they looked at me and said "We do not have THAT in Germany".
Funny moment.

I like Down the Field but it's modeled after Yale's fight song

Yep, when I think of Tennessee, the first thing that pops up is Yale.

Mizzou's fight "song" is actually a medly of two songs (Every True Son/Fight Tiger) almost always played together (the Mizzou-Rah cheer transitions from one to the next). That video only played the second song (Fight Tiger).

Every True Son is based on the tune "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" (a WWI era song). Fight Tiger is an original song.

. You are thinking of “The Eyes of Texas”

The fight song “Texas Fight” was patterned after “Taps”.

For SEC; I always enjoyed the Gators fight song. Outside the SEC; the full length USC fight song is epic. I'd also note how ridiculous the lyrics are to most of these songs.

Agree - but most were written many decades ago (in some cases over a century). What was cool then is likely not now. For example, Mizzou's fight song cheer has the phrase "Bully for Ole Mizzou"... The term "Bully for you" was popular due in large part to Theodore Roosevelt's use of the term...

This is like all other polls (stadium experience, uniform design, school colors, school building design) where everybody is going to have their own rankings...with majority of them having biases.

For me, I like all of them (however, I agree with those saying Alabama's is a little too long).
