Fun fact. The scene where they’re riding in the back of a truck past the chain gang when Pete was missing and Everett asks “does Pete got a brother” was the road I lived on at the time. Eagle Bend Rd south of Yazoo city off hwy 3. I remember the film crew being 200 yards down the road filming and I recognized the road by the lone tree off to the left when I saw the movie. It was about 1/3 of a mile from our house.
Crop duster was spraying cotton when they filmed the scene and the film crew went to the airport and paid the pilot 500 bucks not to fly over the film scene. Pilot told all his friends and they all went and flew their planes over so they could get 500 dollars not to.
