In regards to the "racist" claim, pundits of the suit have noted that Musselman has been married to former sports reporter Danyelle Sargent for about 17 years .
What do you think? Based on these two individuals, could it be a believable claim, a 26-year-old free agent looking for a big payday, or something else?

Chad Baker-Mazara filed the suit in Los Angeles on Monday, claiming that just before he was dismissed from the Trojans in March, Musselman unloaded on him in a racist rant following USC’s February 28 home game vs. Nebraska.
Musselman began yelling at the team, and when Baker-Mazara “attempted to address his teammates by saying ‘Hey guys!,’ Coach Musselman erupted at Baker-Mazara, screaming: ‘You shut the frick up! You are one of the worst teammates anyone can ever have!’,” according to the suit.
“Wow Coach, do you need me to leave,” Baker-Mazara allegedly responded, “because I don’t understand this animosity.”
Baker-Mazara claimed Musselman then told him, “Yes, leave! Go back to the fricking Dominican Republic! Nobody wants you here!! frick you!”
The day after the game, Baker-Mazara was dismissed from the team.
Baker-Mazara joined the Trojans before the start of the 2025-26 season after he starred at Auburn from 2023-25. He claimed in his suit that during USC’s recruitment of him, they agreed to pay him “a substantial fixed sum of money” via NIL agreements.
However, Baker-Mazara alleged that USC had missed a payment, and it was his belief the school had done it on purpose.
He was not selected in the 2026 NBA Draft and is expected to play professionally in Puerto Rico this upcoming season.

I could certainly believe this being said, and I don't think you should say something like this to anybody.

I don't think it would get any backlash at all if coach told a player "Go back to New York" or even "Go back to your country arse hometown"
I also don't know how much money could realistically be awarded for (damages?) being told to go back to your homeland, wherever that might be. I mean if the bar's that low, they might as well countersue this guy for being a bitch & it inconveniencing the team

I obviously don't know Musselman or his proclivities, but I think it's significant that Baker-Mazara literally asked, "Wow Coach, do you need me to leave,” before he responded in that particular way.
As in, it's possible as a player Mazara has been a liability at nearly every single stop, and the answer in his head was therefore, yes, you need to leave, go all the way back home, and never play basketball here again.
Probably poorly worded, but it's always difficult to assign intent.

CBM was not liked by any SEC team while at Auburn, and some Auburn fans kinda stuck up for him while he was at Auburn, but many were fed up with him.
My thoughts on this, is that there was a heated argument, but I doubt it went down the way CBM says it did.

What is the relevance of Mazara being from DR to this scenario? How could that possibly be relevant to basketball?
If a manager at an office job said “go back to country xyz” shortly before firing an employee over personally butting heads, there would be HR issues and lawsuits.
You don’t have to like it, but that’s how this works.
The fact the coach brought up his immigration status before dismissing him opens up Musselman to accusations of prejudice, and there’s money / written agreements involved here now.
You can joke about immigrants with your friends and on this board all you want.
But you can’t denigrate someone for being an immigrant right before dismissing them & failing to honor a contract (allegedly, without cause).

Probably fair. Most fans will stick up for players on the team. But I doubt Auburn fans feel that way now. Many were over him after his ejection in the NCAA tournament.
