Tennessee Loses Starting TE Ethan Davis For The Season With Torn ACL

No. 15 Tennessee suffered a significant injury blow this week, as starting tight end Ethan Davis will miss the remainder of the 2026 season with a torn ACL.

Volunteers coach Josh Heupel confirmed Monday that Davis suffered the injury during Tennessee’s 45-24 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday.

“I hate it for Ethan,” Heupel said. “The work that he put into it, the growth of the person and the player, that the season’s cut short. But the next guy’s got to be prepared and take advantage of their opportunity.”

Davis had gotten off to a strong start this season, catching three passes for 43 yards and two touchdowns through Tennessee’s first two games. He scored the Volunteers’ first touchdown against Georgia Tech on a 25-yard reception from quarterback Faizon Brandon before later leaving the game.

The 6-foot-5, 247-pound senior totaled 39 receptions for 433 yards and six touchdowns during his Tennessee career.

Tennessee hosts Kennesaw State this Saturday before opening SEC play against No. 1 Texas on Sept. 26.
