Upvote Golesh
Downvote Sumrall

My take:

I haven’t wavered one bit

It’s a dead tie

Have not wavered from this one bit:

Golesh is the much better fit for us

Golesh is smarter by a country mile, if you listen to his answers to the media - his football IQ is completely off the charts and I love how he treats people. You can also tell he loves his players hard and coaches them even harder!

Sumrall has too much Dabo in him:

He is a Doofus “Ra-Ra” type guy that seems to have a few screws lose

One thing is for sure - they both seem like they are improvements over their predecessors.

I think it's a tie so far but Golesh has more level head on his shoulders.

Summrall is so rah rah that its great if you are winning but if you start losing and he does that.. yikes

It's too early to know anything. Sample size is still minuscule but I want to see if there is serious energy around the program in the offseason.

The way things appear now can be drastically different in a few years.

I thought lil Beamer killed it his first two years at South Carolina and he fell apart. So that's why I am waiting and seeing

I think both are good fits for the schools they are at. Can't say either would be as successful at the other school.

LOL doesn't matter because Auburn will always deserve better in decision making than to consider a coach 2 years removed from Troy (yeah I'm sure the best option just happens to have existed in the backyard of some big booster).

Which can convince the money folks to donate more? That’ll be your answer in the end ultimately.

I could see Sumrall pursuing the NFL at some point I don’t think that would fit Golesh.

History suggests Golesh will be at AU longer then Sumrall is at UF.

When it comes to rivalry wins, we'll see when Georgia plays Florida, I'm giving the edge to Golesh though either way, the way he's doing things is really moving his value pretty high. He talked about moving away from being so result driven to making it a process recently on someone's interview to where Sunday is already planned out for each week, MTWThF and Sat all have a preset schedule varied by time and location so all players and coaches know what to expect each week, and there is no lingering heavily on the result. That sounds a lot like Dye

This is the double edged sword.

He isn't smart and wont win on his own merit. He cant die from his system. He can replace coordinators that suck pretty easily because there is no certain type of football he is married to

Golesh is smart. But he is married to his own offense. If that offense tanks it's hard to imagine he suddenly doesn't want to be involved in the offense.

I think you nailed it for me.

I think Sumrall is a great coach. I think he is really good at identifying good coordinators and letting them do their job.

I could never really put my finger on what irked me about him until I just read your sentence about "having too much Dabo in him." And that is 100% what it is for me. That is exactly what I dont like about him.

None of this to say that I think Golesh is perfect, because nobody is. I dont like how he seems emotional and dramatic sometimes. Like some of his interview on the field after the UGA win just seemed a bit dramatic. But the presser afterwards was fantastic. He is a refreshing change in how he holds himself and the rest of the staff accountable instead of throwing players under the bus every week.

I think UF got the right guy for them and I think Auburn got the right guy for them. I think it will be fun to watch both bring back some life into the respective programs. It will be fun watching Auburn and Florida renew the old rivalry and have it be for SEC bragging rights sometimes.

Too early to say. Golesh got his marquee game and used what he had, but this team badly needs a rebuild and I need to see how Golesh approaches that. Sumrall had a better starting point and will likely have better resources to build from. He's more of a foundational guy, so I tend to prefer that approach... but it hasn't been perfect so far. My hope is that Golesh continues to show that he's a head coach and not a guy with an offense. We've had too many of those.

Not sure where it was, maybe the film guy network dude (UGA homer btw), but he was very impressed with how creative and multiple Auburn has been within the wide choice offense… unlike huepel at UT, who’s all but abandoned it now.

i liked Golesh even before we canned Freezus, had seen him in interviews as was impressed

when it appeared we had our eyes set on Sumrall, i watched some of his one-on-one convos with podcasters and i really liked him, he seemed smart, down to earth and funny, but when he gets in front of a crowd his inner Dabo comes out

still, i would have been perfectly happy had he gotten the AU gig, in the end i think he has what it takes to be successful at this level

but once he passed on us, i was hoping against hope we would turn to Golesh, and i’m so happy we managed to JABA our way into hiring him

he’s the opposite of the kind of HC we inevitably end up being stuck with, which is a great thing IMHO

i also like the way he seems to be the same dude no matter what the situation, i imagine if i were to bump into him randomly he would behave exactly like he’s been in every public appearance, just a sincerely genuine guy who doesn’t adapt his personality to the circumstances

We're barely halfway through chapter one of the Book of Comrade Golesh. I still believe he could be The Guy.

Obviously, we've seen some good and some bad. I want to see progress this year and substantial progress next.

I suspect he may have felt (and may have been right) that the best available short-term solution was bringing a bunch of USF guys with him. Those kids were at USF and not an SEC or Big10 schools for a reason so we shouldn't be surprised if some are overmatched/out of their depth in bigger games. Now if he's not bringing in SEC caliber talent for '27 and '28, we have a problem.

I’ve always liked Golesh and hope he works out. Obviously last week was a huge step in the right direction.

My concern is halfway through the first season we still have zero offensive identity. Obviously we saw last week what it SHOULD be. Can we maintain the production with the new scouting report out?

Obviously we’ve been a little handicapped trying to piecemeal a horrendous OL together but seems we finally found a decent combo. Let’s see if holds up against another good team.

I really like the way Golesh is oriented, he is very much a process driven guy who is maniacal about not cutting corners and getting the most out of everyone. Recruiting has been encouraging thus far but still some questions on roster building and QB evaluation.
