Now that the dust has settled, the whole fly in the ointment was Texas

Texas beating Bama is what got them in, had they played Arkansas or LSU they would not have gotten in as a one loss champ.

Once Bama won the SEC, Texas could not be left out by the committee.

The bigger gripe is that the SEC champ is only a 4 seed.
UGA has an argument just as much as anyone else, dropping all the way from 1 to 6. UGA would likely be a favorite over any of the other playoff teams even with one loss.

UGA didn't have the benefit of playing Oklahoma either.

One non conference matchup early in the season dictated the whole playoff scenario.

If anything, FSU probably should have been in over Texas and the argument against Bama had no merit once they won the SEC title.

Texas beat Bama by 10 in their stadium. Had Texas WRs not dropped a couple easy ones, it is a 21 point win. As it was, Texas ran off the last 7:31 and made Bama exhaust their timeouts doing nothing but handing the ball off before taking a knee in Bama territory in field goal range as Sark decided not to run up the score.

Had the same record and almost identical SOS. Bama was never getting in over Texas.

An 11-1 conference champ that beat the SEC champ was the problem? Not the playoff system that uses a committe to pick teams? Okay, Karen.

We're always the fly in the ointment. College football revolves around us.

If they had to put Texas in to justify putting in Bama, then Bama is the team that did not deserve to be in, not FSU or Texas.

There was a loud and clear message sent.

"frick you ACC. We could have had a 12 team playoff worth gazillions of dollars. You figs blocked it. FSU, enjoy your #5 playoff ranking and good luck against them illiterate shits in Athens."

The playoff committee made a political decision to make a point.

That said, frick Free Shoes U. It's what you get for hitching your wagon to the ACC. Bobby Bowden wanting those easy games finally bit you in the arse.

No way that FSU is better than Texas. Hell FSU should have been ranked behind Ohio State

Now you're thinking.

And because they preach head-to-head, they weren't going to open another can of worms putting Bama ahead of Texas, which they should have... Glad they didn't though.

I mean Texas beat-up the mullet-men of Oki State at 9-3, while Bama took down the Giant.

And Yes, I still think the dawgs had a better season than FSU (and maybe Texas) and should have been considered.

Until they have better, more consistent ratings, it will happen again either in seedings or for #13.

I think of the four, Michigan should be left out. They cheated their way to an undefeated season and suffered no consequences. But hey, this is the four you get when picking for TV ratings and not the most deserving.

FIFY

Texas went to Tuscaloosa (much respect)
Alabama and Georgia were worthy (SEC cancelled OU vs UGA game, not UGA)
Florida State was more legit in ACC than Michigan in B1G
Washignton was more legit than Michigan.

Michigan played no ACC / B12 / PAC / SEC school
Most all B1G opponents Michigan played did not have a winning record
Michigan had a cheating scandal

They got the #1 seed but clearly did not have the resume to earn it.

Texas losing to Oklahoma wasn’t even considered

this is the right answer and I'm surprised more aren't bringing this up. They are so blind with bama hate it has consumed them.

You forget that Alabama had 2 TD taken back because of penalties.

The playoff committee just show it is Alabama. They could not have the playoffs without Bama.

Be thankful that Texas will be able to say they beat the NC winner this year.

People forget that Alabama had the lead going into the 4th quarter but Milroe made his second boneheaded mistake then Texas absolutely took over the game with their offense. They had basically been running Alabama’s defense around with quick throws and sprint outs all day. Milroe’s interception broke the defense’s back. They just couldn’t stop Texas who started mixing in more runs after throwing 1-read quick passes and sprint out hi-lo read passes all game.

It managed to perfectly blend “Alabama was a few mistakes from winning” and “Texas seized the game in crunch time” too.

Alabama and Texas both making it into the field was the correct call. Texas deserved the credit for doing something only truly great teams have accomplished by beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Alabama did not deserve to be punished for scheduling aggressively and playing in a quality conference.
