Correct, 1 loss Bama and 1 loss Georgia > 1 loss Texas. The only realistic chance that Texas has to get in is if both Michigan and FSU lose which is highly unlikely.

Just thought I would remind you of this statement you made Saturday night.

We won that game, big difference.

Considering Auburn lost by 21 to new mexico state the week before I disagree...but we all have opinions.

Truth is..this national hissy fit is about bama hate more than fsu support. You deserved it as did we. The only team that has an argument about getting in over us is GA but no way they were going to leave out fsu for 2 sec teams. They knew the fire that was coming imo.

Partially true

Bigger issue is changing of the guard at SEC HQ. Success in past was about "us vs them" but this new age is all about $$$$.

Everybody knew all season that a 12-1 Texas was going in before a 12-1 Bama. Its in the CFP protocol( H2H), Bama beating Georgia also gave Texas an edge over Georgia via CFP protocol (Outcome of common opponents)

Didn’t Texas almost lose to K State, Houston, and TCU?

I mean… you literally used “rivalry game” to argue Texas’ loss while also holding a close rivalry game against Bama (that we actually won)

I think of the four, Michigan should be left out. They cheated their way to an undefeated season and suffered no consequences.

This is the most absurd part of the season this year to me, and not many in the media seem to be acknowledging it.

The point I was trying to make...and clearly not very well and that's on me...is that they clearly valued head to head over close wins (or in our case a close loss to a rival).
Also, we had a very bad backup qb for 3 of those close games. If quinn wasn't playing on Jan 1st I could completely understand leaving us out...just like FSU.

I think they got it right...but obviously I wouldn't feel that way if I was an FSU fan.

Yeah Texas slipped up against OU, but that still put Texas at an even record with Bama and the H2H outcome favoring Texas. Thus why a 1 loss Texas has stayed above Bama all year.

Texas beat Bama by 10 in their stadium. Had Texas WRs not dropped a couple easy ones, it is a 21 point win. As it was, Texas ran off the last 7:31 and made Bama exhaust their timeouts doing nothing but handing the ball off before taking a knee in Bama territory in field goal range as Sark decided not to run up the score.

Had the same record and almost identical SOS. Bama was never getting in over Texas.

Exactly. Anyone who watched that game saw complete domination on both sides of the line.

This SEC worship is getting a bit ridiculous. The second Alabama knocked out Georgia, the FSU/Louisville game became their problem. Texas was already in.

The game was played. "But y'all got Alabama early"...no shite, and Alabama got Texas early. Big 12 CG Texas beats the brakes off SEC CG Alabama (or Georgia for that matter).

We'll find out if we belong just like Bama will. I'd love a bama rematch but we have a huge problem on our hands with Washington first.

I don't know where we stand against bama right now nor does anyone else. Hopefully we get a chance to settle in on the field but I also wouldn't be surprised to see us both lose.

This playoff is anyone's guess. Glad michigan doesn't get the easy win they so counted on. frick those cheaters.

Well said.

Also keep in mind that Michigan shouldn't have been invited to the party either. They're more than likely going to have to vacate the wins on their season within a few months.

The SEC champ is always going to be in, even if they have 2 losses.

UGA has an argument just as much as anyone else, dropping all the way from 1 to 6. UGA would likely be a favorite over any of the other playoff teams even with one loss.

They wouldn't be a favorite over Alabama today on a neutral field.

I am old, the media loved the Ivy League early on, even when they were playing solid ball in the South (check out Harvard vs Centre).

Iron Men were Southern, not Northern
Colonels were Southern, not Northern (folks that created the 12th man for TAMU)

Media loved the B1G and PCC (became the PAC after the worst cheating scandal) instead of the Big 8 / SWC / ACC / SEC because that is where the population and money were.

Live long enough and you see the same old song and dance in a new skin.

And the committee wanted to make sure that, if that happened, it was in the championship and not a semifinal. They wanted to give it a chance to not happen. They got the seeds right.

True. My comment was directed at the “we would beat the brakes off of Alabama or Georgia” guy.

I still think Georgia would be favored over anyone else, even Bama.
