Schedule. Notre Dame has not played anyone and will not for the rest of the season

Imagine if your Georgia, and you go 12-1, having lost a 1 point epic SEC Championship Game to #1 Alabama, and you don’t make it in.

Imagine if you won instead.

Well, that's all they can do.

I don’t care if your methuselah, Notre Dame with one loss will not be in the top 4.

They’re in over Georgia in that scenario. ND has more fans. It’s about $$.

Why is this problematic? Win and youre in

Agreed. If Bama or UGA lose the SECCG and there are two other undefeated conference champs and an undefeated ND, tough. Undefeated OSU, Clemson and ND go over someone who loses the championship game. Don’t think all three will be undefeated. Not sure Bama and UGA will be 12-0 headed to ATL.

Yep. They're not passing up the opportunity to put Notre Dame in if they can help it.

I hate it but Notre Dame is a Top 4 team if they win out. Their resume is better than Clemson's right now despite them being ranked 5th.

With all due respect to an improved Florida team and a scrappy LSU squad, Georgia will demolish both of you.

The SEC title game is as good as set.

UGA fans keeps pointing this out as if it will be the deciding factor. It will be 1 of like 20 factors but won’t tip scales

Everyone agrees on this. Where we disagree is on what happens to Notre Dame if they lose one.

They have the built in catholic fan base. They have far more fans that would watch them in the playoffs on TV than Georgia does. It’s not a knock on Georgia. It’s just how it is.

Again,it’s about $$ and not “who the best team” really is.

I’m not 100% convinced of that just yet. Is Georgia good enough to beat both? Absolutely. But either of those teams could pull off the win over Georgia if things go their way.

Plus ND isn’t in a conference. Why would a one loss ND team get special consideration?

Because no team has a bigger following than Notre Dame.

It is what it is.

Nope. Especially if UGA is the loser.

They have already beaten three ranked teams(Michigan, VT, and Stanford) so they can afford to lose one like Syracuse, and they aren't going to lose 2 that I can see at least. ND will be in.

The playoff committee may pay lip service to the idea that, "it's the 4 best teams no matter what", but they bend and change the criteria to fit their agenda time and time again. They want P5 Conference Champs first and foremost because that fits their agenda the most. There will always be extenuating circumstances like last year, but sending the message that the results of a conference championship game doesn't matter is not something they want to do.

A 1-loss ND won't get in, because that 1 loss will be a bad loss. The back half of their schedule is garbage and any L from here on out will eliminate them. If their 1 L was Michigan or Stanford, they'd have a punchers-chance, but still unlikely.
