Why wouldn’t a 1 loss ND deserve a playoff spot over a 1 loss Georgia?
Because I know football. And there is no way a 12-1 Georgia team that takes this Bama team to the wire wouldn’t be at least 2 tds better than ND.
Plus ND isn’t in a conference. Why would a one loss ND team get special consideration?

Vandy almost beating ND in South bend goes along way with UGA absolutely destroying Vandy...
All shite the committee looks at. I however do not underestimate the ND draw..

I think the committee would know Georgia ( or flip the scenario and say Bama) was a top four team and ND would be out.
On the other hand, if ND is undefeated, they are a shoo in.
Notre Dames Rep ain’t what it used to be. Few really feel they can complete with the top three or four teams

The only scenario in which we see two SEC teams make the playoff is if it’s like last year in which they didn’t play each other. Which means the SEC Champ and a second place team from the other division has an incredibly strong resume. This is an incredibly unusual scenario. It happened last year, but it’s not normal. The only way this works out this year is is if Bama wins out and Georgia doesn’t make it to Atlanta by losing to Florida or something.

I think an epic battle between a #1 Bama and #2 Georgia decided by 1 point leaves the loser in strong contention for the fourth seed, assuming there are no undefeated teams.

I'd be shocked if a 1 loss ND didn't get in over 2 SEC teams making it. If ND wins out which they should or if they have just 1 loss unless it's a bad loss will get in before 2 SEC teams gets in...IMO.

Good. 12-1 Bama or Georgia dont deserve to be in without winning the SEC CG this year. Soft schedules.

Said this a couple of weeks ago after they beat Stanford. Although Stanford’s loss to Utah last night tarnished that ND W a little.

If Georgia is 12-1, they don't get in. If Bama loses one though, we get in. Eye test.

Last year was an anomaly. Most years 2 teams from the same conference aren't going.

How many ranked wins are needed for it to be good?

Notre Dame is problematic for Bama or Georgia. Not the SEC.

We don't know who will be playing for the SEC title, let alone win it, but the loser of the title game won't be in the playoffs. Ok. There is a slight chance if Alabama were to be that team, and enough key teams lost their conference title games or very late in the season.
Basically, don't count on more than 1 conference team going to the playoffs. Last year was an anomaly. The committee knew Alabama would get back some of those linebackers that missed the Auburn game, plus, Alabama is just a good bet.
In other words, if UGA or whatever east team loses the SEC title game, they are out.
edit: Pepe already said it, but I only read the o.p. before I posted

Every year now it gets worse with premature rankings and I cant help why some of you don't understand history. Its only half of a season...actually 5 games with seven left and conference championships for most except Nueter Damsel.
Anything can happen between now and end of the season....relax.

Imagine if your Georgia, and you go 12-1, having lost a 1 point epic SEC Championship Game to #1 Alabama, and you don’t make it in.
If this happens, Georgia will make the playoffs based on the fact that their only loss was to the #1 team in the SECCG. That resume will win out over any other one loss team in America. An undefeated Notre Dame is another matter entirely, but a case could still be made for Georgia even in that situation.

Maybe some with much more intelligence and less bias than you would consider head to head.
ND 23. Vandy 17
UGA 41. Vandy 13

if you don't realize that Notre Dame has to lose twice,
Relative to SEC 1L non champ
The bigger fear should come from Big12.
- WVU is undefeated
- UT is 1L w OU win
- OU is 1L w only UT top 10 loss
If any of those 3 win out and win the Big12, they'll also be in over SEC runner up 1L
