they only got kicked out due to a technical issue.
one of their research hospitals was originally included at the main campus, but was in reality on a satellite campus, and the AAU deemed it later to not be part of the school.

Big12 schools would let ND revenue-whip them.
SEC and Big10 would not.
SEC and Big10 would not.

zero chance this happens - ND is almost as "snotty" about academics as the B1G schools
if they join a conference; it will be ACC or B1G

ND would never join the SEC.

It's almost Iike not joining a conference.

This feels like a lot of blind optimism from second hand Big 12 sources. No way Notre Dame doesn’t join the Big 10.
This. It’s been a conversation for decades. There’s no way this isn’t the end product. B1G needs another blue blood, Notre Dame needs a modern outlet for their football program.

Seems a reasonable option for them.
Easy schedule and good chance to win the conference championship.
Somewhat better match geographically; fairly close to Cincinnati, West Virginia, Iowa St. and Kansas.

That fat ND reporter that was making the rounds yesterday yelling at everyone will be very disappointed. He said ND was too good to join a conference

B1G doesn't want them, either. ND has turned them down before.
My understanding they both want it and now with ND as an AAU member it makes sense. This issue for both though is TV revenue. ND currently does not share any even with the ACC is my understanding. They want to keep their money and the B1G wants their money. Until that hurdle is figured out, I doubt they come to an understanding.
Joining the B12 they can demand to keep their money or most of it just like Texas did years ago.
Not to mention the clause kicks in for them that if they are ranked top 12 they are guaranteed apot in the playoffs so not sure why join a conference.

I don't think that's really gonna strengthen their case

besides location, what part of Notre Dame is even close to a cultural fit in the SEC?

Big 12.
ND is obsessed with the path of least resistance.

ND will find that any conference schedule is harder than tip toeing thru the tulips on their independent schedule…..In the Big 12 every team would be building their year around beating ND……
I think ND goes the route of Harvard and Yale a big name in the early history of football but not relevant in current times…….

ND should be a BIG team. Makes so much sense that it will never happen.

We don’t need Notre Dame when we already have Texas to deal with. One is more than enough.

And Texas basically destroyed that conference. Did the B12 not learn their lesson?
