Why are you making threads on a SEC board?

I got no problem with B12 posters coming here for real discussion. OP has a reasonable take.

We know who the trolls and pricks are. OP doesn’t seem to be one.

Murray has talent, but if you want an idea what he will do against Bama go back to his play at A&M. Inconsistent, with flashes of both truly terrible play, and truly awesome play

That is what you can expect as he plays a decent defense. He's tiny, doesn't like getting hit, and will slide at the first sign of adversity. That has never changed. OU might score somewhere around 20-30 with him - much less without him

Alabama will probably punt less than three times all game, possibly not at all, and enforce their will on the hapless OU defense. It will be the Army game, with Army having a considerable talent advantage.

Someone just mentioned that Kyler played at Allen High School. Yes he did. And that school has over 6,000 students. One of the largest in the nation. That being said, its known as a "move-in" school. Parents of gifted athletes will move in to that district to get their kid a chance to play (for all the clout and eyeballs they bring in.)

To rise to the top at that school, you have to beat out tons of top talent.

Kyler won the starting QB position and never lost a game, including at least 2 Texas high school state championships at the 6A (largest) level.

He might be 2nd or 4th string at Alabama, but he rose to the top at Allen and again at OU. Don't be so sure of that.

Like I said, Kyler is talented.

But, he is used to playing on a team full of talented people that dominates the competition up and down the roster.

Oklahoma's talent eclipses most of their competition, just like Allen High School's did. There is not one team on Oklahoma's schedule that matches up talent-wise, except maybe Texas, but that's highly debatable, given the Charlie Strong recruiting years.

What happens when Kyler meets an opponent that has equal or better talent?

We saw that when he played at Aggy.

That's all I am saying.

He's good, but he responds to adversity like a child. See Aggy.

Last year vs Georgia
31 = 14 + 17, Oklahoma 1st half
17 = 07 + 10 Georgia 1st half

14 = 00 + 14, Oklahoma 1st half
28 = 14 + 14 Georgia 1st half

14 of Sooners points were a fumble and a trick play

I can't really figure out this chart you made.

Why does that trick play not count?

That trick play was actually our last TD in the 1st half (2 yd pass TO Baker), not in the 4th. Scoring drive in the 4th was 6 plays for 88 yards.

So, Bama jams the wrs, gets pressure without blitzing/stops the run on the way and Murray all of a sudden looks like he has never seen a football in his life.
Why did yall not do this with you elite defense last year? Instead you gave up 38 points and 531 yards in regulation

Bama will win the game, but Oklahoma and Murray are not going to look like they have never seen a football

I know. I was there. It was an incredible play call. I was wondering why it shouldn’t count towards points OU scores when evaluating the game.

It wasn’t some fluke play.

Yea, they're offense is elite and has proven to work against non-BigXII elite teams. They'll have success against us.

It’s crazy how much people are underrating OU’s offense, because they only put up 28 against Army.

Despite the fact that they averaged 9+ yds/play.

It’s statistically one of, if not the best offense in college football history.

Correct. The children dont realize Oklahomas offense barely had the ball that game because their defense couldnt get Army off the field. But when the offense did have the ball they absolutely demolished Army

Army held the ball for 44 minutes that game. Think about that

Out of 129 schools....

Total Defense
Alabama #10
Texas #68

Passing Yds allowed
Alabama #13
Texas #113

Team Sacks
Alabama #7
Texas #56

Rushing Defense (this one is a little closer)
Alabama #19
Texas #36

Rushing TDs allowed
Alabama - 7
Texas - 18

Passing TDs allowed
Alabama 17
Texas 23

Not saying Bama is a sure win. Other factors could weigh in, like injuries, penalties (aka Refs), field conditions (the Orange Bowl has had problems) etc.

Top scores are 1st half (but also shows the quarters)

Bottom scores are 2nd half (but also shows the quarters) and the reason you can't figure it out is because I cut n pasted and forgot to change the bottom from first to 2nd.

Trying to illustrate that scoring early will be key for Sooners but schools like Alabama and Georgia will get you in the 2nd half with defense. When TAMU did well with Manziel they did so getting out early and scoring often. Then hoping that was enough of a lead by the time the clock ran out to win the game. Without the trick play and fumble, UGA wins by 14 instead of OT. The early scores by OU would not have saved their arse without this.

My observation (and it is my observation) is that it will be that type of game. If Sooner's have 21 at the end of the 1st quarter then they hold on and hope that is enough to overcome the Tide wave over the last 2 quarters of the game.

If this does no happen, again my prediction, they may have 7 - 14 points by half and Alabama is tied or ahead at halftime. If this happens it will be a ball control game once the Tide are up by 21 or so and Saban runs to run clock. Unlike many, I think this is the game we see. This is the part of old school SEC football takes over when fans of non SEC schools never understand this type of play.

On that decade run of SEC MNC dominance you had all these high scoring teams play form all the conferences and they got limited to a TD or two the whole game. I think the Ducks got a 3rd vs Auburn but it was late "gift" type score. I think the same happened in that LSU vs OSU MNC where the score looked closer from a "gift" than the actual rest of the game.

Yea but OU can't stop anybody on Defense much less the best offense BAMA has had in my lifetime.

BAMA by 25!

They haven't faced a top 100 defense all year. Bama will likely shut them out.
