Not a troll. Honest question about Arkansas batting stats. Do y’all have concerns.

Saw this on SEC Now. I did not realize that you guys are bottom 10 in the league in almost every offensive category. We all know y’all have really good top end arms. How has this team been so successful with such sub par offensive numbers? Is it all pitching or good situational hitting. I’m honestly curious because when they through out those stats I was shocked.

We tend to score more runs than the other team.

May seem like a troll response, but that's really the level of understanding we're at with this year's team. Nothing makes sense. They just win.

They have a veteran team that battles and is clutch. They produce a ton of timely hits. They play great defense and have a deep pen. DVH knows how to coach.

They actually got kind of a bad draw in their regional but they'll win

This group has no superstars, just good players playing unselfish and as a team. Our defense has been an an asset and surprise given this is a completely new group and the injuries they’ve had.

I really like this group.

Even moreso when it hasn't even been an asset the entire year. Our left side of the infield couldn't even field the ball until about a week into conference play. Then they randomly turned into Wallace and Battles.

Same with the pitching. It looked like we had about 2-3 SEC worthy pitchers max for nearly two months once the injuries were said and done. Then all of a sudden a couple of freshmen go on a run and a few vets put it together and now we're in better shape than most.

Easily the most confusing and consistently inconsistent teams I've ever watched.

Of course it’s concerning. Tcu and Arizona. But, I wouldn’t trade DVH for anyone in the nation. His teams play hard. We may not be full of a superstar roster, but this team will fight you and figure out a way to win. DVH tends to get the most out of this roster. I don’t think it’s as talented as a team as last year and we didn’t host last year. DVH just has another team that had bought into his culture. It’s almost Omaha or bust here in Arkansas. He’s knocked at the door a lot here. Hopefully he wins it all one day.

I mean this is the primary answer. And as average as the stats would indicate we are on offense, we’re less streaky with a bit less swing and miss than we’ve been in some prior seasons. One through seven are tough outs.

And yeah defense has been really good. We lost All-Americans from last year’s infield and I haven’t noticed a difference. Just not a team that gives much away. I don’t mean this as a slight to LSU but they win in completely opposite ways.

We have played a more difficult weekend baseball series every weekend since March 10. We have won all 5 of them at home

If we lose at home against these guys, we have no one but ourselves to blame. Not saying it is impossible, but no one should be bitching about our draw. At some point you have to play someone with a pulse in this tournament

Arkansas has been in the bottom 5 in the SEC in BA three years in a row…

With that said - they take good ABs, move runners and put the ball in play when they have RISP.

Something LSU fails to do way too often.

Good defense. No bone headed plays on both sides of the ball. Timely hitting and good ABs.

Their pitchers all have GQ hair...no seriously, they play great fundamental baseball. Very few errors on the year, no base running blunders, great defense, players have huge baseball IQ's. They seem to manufacture runs when needed, by any means. They will work your star pitcher with long at bats, which seems to be a trademark of the Hogs. They may not always be the most talented on the field, but using all the above, they win. And that is all DVH. What is frustrating as an LSU fan, we usually have great talent on the field, but it can be "dumb" talent at times, getting by on sheer athleticism instead of being fundamentally sound, and that drives me nuts.

Those batting stats just won us the SEC title, which is the hardest conference in baseball. I think we’ll be okay.

Our team has been pretty fundamentally sound the back half of the season.

In all fairness, we have been the beneficiaries of costly mistakes by the other teams. 10rc made some crucial errors as did aggie and most recently the catcher interference by lsu. We’ve been fortunate so far.

No need to be defensive, baw.

It seemed like an honest question.

It’s not an accident that the infield has progressed to where they are. Dave works them hard on not just catching and throwing but making double plays in creative ways. As evidence when Holt faked the throw to first on a routine double play and gunned down the runner at 3rd who had made the turn. That wasn’t an accident.

Dave is not just a great coach but a great teacher.

Makes perfect sense considering DVH was a 2nd baseman.
