I think your source is dog shite.

quote:

Baseball, the other LSU team that usually records profits, did so as Alex Box Stadium operated with full capacity for an entire season for the first time since 2019 and contributions ($2.43 million) returned to pre-pandemic levels. The program reported $6.06 million in overall revenue and had a net income of $84,595 in coach Jay Johnson’s first season after losing money for two straight years.

Reputable source

I’m pretty sure your “college factual” source is using pandemic numbers. The tip line revenue figure on their chart is over 60 million short.

Nope. NFL free agency. MLB season revving up and almost upon us.

Basketball is your sport and bigger than football for you, I get it. But the rest of the fans in the conference would give two or three basketball titles for a football title any day of the week. I wish our basketball team was better. Would be a more entertaining off season. But I don't kid myself, it's still the offseason. The 1980 stuff hurt a bit. Drilling us because we have a bad basketball program? If I were Superman I'd tell you, it may look green and glowy, but it ain't kryptonite, son.

Just the way it is. Unfortunately for you though, your basketball team is not much better than your football team at the moment.

Lol yes, yes I could. Palm Beach >>> where you live.

Beverly Hills, the Upper East Side, and the Hamptons are the only zip codes that even remotely compare.

And they would be correct.

In the modern era, LSU baseball does turn a profit annually with 2 exceptions being the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Possibly the stupidest thing to ever appear on any Rant board.

The fact that you believe "it's on the internet it must be true" is just so, so sad. The "messenger" might as well shoot himself, for all the good he's doing the world.

Yup.

Factor in AD's are non profits & the books are not managed conventionally. You can start with the University credit for the scholarship value.. that's $200-330k right off the bat. Despite these factors there are several programs that still hit "in the black" each year.

I’m sure the five people watching those games on non-cable TV enjoyed seeing the national champs lose in an irrelevant sport.

The first 3 years ESPN offered SECN, LSU fans dominated viewership 3 to 1 compared to ALL other SEC teams combined.
Now it's more like 2 to 1.
That's a good thing for the SEC.

A shite-ton of people now watch college baseball. And they pay for SEC Network.

is cash-positive. Every D1 college baseball team operates in a deficit (and is bailed out by football).

Your sport does not matter.

Only relevant sports / leagues in the U.S.:
College football
College bball
Big 5 pro sports

WOMEN’S basketball garners more views than college baseball lololololol

Facts > feelings

Almost all of this is factually incorrect.

There are three, for sure, maybe four this season, SEC baseball programs that are cash-positive (as of 2017-2022) given TV revenue and gate receipts.

LSU, MSU and SC for sure and I'm pretty sure Arkansas.

Only one women's basketball team in the entire country has been consistently ... SC and that's only because of their TV games and #1 attendance avg (10k+) for seven years running. UT and UConn were cash positive, I'm pretty sure both lost money during Covid but it was close. What makes SC, UConn and UT so close on the leadger is how much they pay they coaches.

Speaking of things NOT "cash-positive"

Georgia men's basketball profit in 2021-22: (-$2,097,636)

Yikes
