Thanks for supporting Bama

Now lets stack that fact on top of contextual background and Georgia should have been in.

But they aren't in. Neither is FSU. They can battle it out in an irrelevant Orange Bowl to settle the score. 29 in a row has no bearing on a playoff when you lose your 7th SEC Championship Game. It's irrelevant. Win and they were in. They lost.

You can't factor in the previous 2 season into this year's resume. Not how it works. I guess TCU should be in the discussion because they were good last season. How about Bama's 6 Natties since 2009?

It's irrelevant. The 2023 Georgia football team gets judged on 2023 alone. They played no one in the non conf.

Also it depends on the circumstances around your resume. If this was another 2021 or 2022 season without many contenders in other conferences then they would have gotten in easy...but because there were so many 1 loss and unbeteaten teams they didn't have a shot.

Not if you keep losing to Alabama. It almost like the lone win was a fluke or something

You had a good season. 'Good' wasn't good enough in 2023. Its that simple.

I would hope UGA fans aren’t dumb enough to actually believe we deserve a spot over another team more deserving….

Agreed.

The criteria of winning a P5 conference was obvious because the top five on the list met that criteria.

That is why Georgia is at #6.

But the real sleazy aspect of the situation is the sucker punching of an undefeated team. That hasn't happened before and should not have happened to FSU especially based on their wins against the SEC.

While I am disappointed at our outcome, I am totally disgusted at what happened to FSU.

The committee thought that Alabama was more "deserving" in spite of the fact that they didn't earn it on the field in comparison to an undefeated team.

I am not going to bother to watch these games because they have been degraded to the level of professional wrestling.

Yeah...but if you continue to reduce the timeframe...they are 0-1 since the end of November.

- Lost first game Saturday in more than 2 years by just 3 points and its two best offensive players were playing injured

Yet, not a single one of these points is part of the playoff selection criteria for this year

They just lost to a team that really doesn’t belong in the top 4 either.

Dawgs are probably the best team, but the CFP has a secret system where they did not qualify.
How often does the best team win a Super Bowl or World Series? Less than half for sure.
Fortunately for the Dawgs, CFP is barely better than BCS, and there are other traditional ways to claim a national championship like polls or “because we said so”
If they can hold the team together and dominate FSU, then they can still be National Champions.

They had to let in Bama since they won the SEC. To save face, they had to put in Texas since they beat Bama. In a four team playoff, there was no more room.

UGA wins it’s a moot point.

This is a totally erroneous statement.

The SEC didn't honestly earn a slot this year.

These four P5 conference champions did:

Michigan
Washington
Florida State
Texas

Obviously the committee didn't want Georgia to have a chance to
be the National Champion the last three years of the 4 team playoff system.

And then you end up with four undefeated teams which would guarantee an undefeated national champion.

"Undefeated" should always trump a one loss team.

But sadly, except for when you have greed and manipulation come into play.

Nope

At this juncture, neither Georgia or Alabama can rightfully claim to be national champions.

True, but the system is based on facts AND feelings, and the "feelings" part might be more influential than the "facts" part.

I didn't say Bama earned a spot. ESPN probably wanted Bama in and Texas got in on their coattails.

If you claim every team in the playoffs needs to at least be a conference champion, please explain how Alabama made the 2011 BCS national championship game and didn't even win its division or participate in the SEC championship game?
