The Supremes ruling on Amateur College athletes NIL

Ok, while I don't like the NIL stuff, you lose all credibility when you make such factually inaccurate statements.

The SCOTUS ruled that the NCAA couldn't limit education related benefits like getting a laptop as part of your scholarship. NIL wasn't part of the case at all.

I am not usually an alarmist, but I think you are right. It is now going to be highest bidder recruiting, which means the teams without the means are just going to lose interest. Not good.

It’s by far the worst legislation passed in modern sports history.

ANd people like you deserve the chaos that is about to ensue. The Supremes ruling on Amateur College athletes NIL is exactly like allowing Judges to receive NIL from any person, corporation, country, or entity to follow their agenda exclusively. Are you really so stupid you don't see how this will destroy the sport in every way? Whoever your favorite team is will no longer be who you think they are. They will be whatever and whoever their sponsor pays them to be - and noone can stop them.

eta - You must be a splattered bug on someone's windshield to be so dense not to see the utter destruction of college sports this ruling will cause.

Poor dumb people tend to be blind to real life consequences of the events in the world around them.

Hoping you're 15 years old with this level of melt. I understand that being an Alabama fan is likely your identity. Life will go on though.

Will NIL ruin the sport? Likely. But it's gonna be okay buddy. You'll find women and drugs and stuff when you get to college.

Free market float for all in the supply chain (eg, TV, coaches, conferences, universities, etc.), except the product (the players), an unsustainable model.

NIL is step towards addressing that. Shaky one, I agree. Transitional to next progress step.

Why would these companies bankroll college football teams

Not really what the rules say. Also, sounds kind of like you're describing capitalism.

quote:

Russia can pay East Carolina

NIL has nothing to do with universities getting paid.

quote:

- or any player at any college anywhere and put their logo on Russian Bombers.

What gain would Russia have by doing this? Are we in the business of telling Russia what they can or can't put on their bombers?

quote:

China can hire Florida O-lineman to pitch the Renminbi to replace the US dollar as the Peg currency in the world.

Your examples are so outlandish that it's impossible to take your argument seriously.

quote:

Unregulated NIL is complete madness that will totally destroy the integrity of the sport. Congress will have to act and write regulations.

You have a lot of faith in government intervention and regulation.

quote:

Coaches will no longer control their teams. Whoever is willing to pay the players will have the power.

Not going to be the case. I have not seen this ever being an issue for professional athletes.

quote:

If you think think paying amateur college players was a good idea you're an idiot.

We still believing the fiction that this players are amateurs?

quote:

The unintended consequences of this Supreme Court ruling will damage not only college football but higher education itself. All players will now serve who is paying them - not the coach or team they play for.

Goddamn this fricking NIL ruling.

You have failed to identify any legitimate "unintended" consequences. You have also exhibited a lack of basic understanding of economics, business, and law and a total lack of common sense.

Just total ignorance

Its not the major companies like those that will be the problem. Its mega boosters like Jimmy Rane at Great Southern Wood who will be the problem

I'm not convinced it's going to be the gloom and doom that guy is making it out to be but in fairness to him he did post it in a forum about SEC football. I don't think that's out of bounds at all

However, if I'm being honest, college football ranks pretty far down my list of "concerns" in our ever changing world.

While true, college football is one of the last sports for which I have a passion, and it will be painful to watch what I feel will be a rapid deterioration of the product.
