I think Saban was a great coach. But, there's absolutely truth to the fact that Saban was always playing with a stacked deck due to his willingness to break the rules to levels others weren't.
He’s a upper-tier recruiter under 2010 NCAA rules. Great CEO, average coach. Put Urban Meyer, Ryan Day, or Kirby Smart with Bama's 2011-2020 roster budget and they win 6 rings too.

He did the same thing at LSU, only it was Cadillac Escalades back then. I almost got ran over one day by a convoy of about 5 escalades when walking to a testing hall. I almost started to mouth off but then all the escalades illegally parked and about a dozen football players poured out and walked towards some food hall.
LOL when I was at FSU in 99 a lot of the players had Escalades/Tahoes/Denalis, always parked right in front of buildings in handicapped spots. Darnell Dockett, Montrae Holland, etc. Then one day I see Anquan Boldin and he's in a barely running 1980 Honda. Go figure.

STFU you loser. Yeah, LSU had no black players until Saban. What a zero you are.

Spot on but I think this documentary was about his success and not failure and he likely doesn't do it if that's included

I agree with you I do but two things can be true at the same time. Given he was 73 and why he accomplished he likely didn't want to deal with the repercussions of the NIL era.

Did the producers just conveniently forget the entire 2005–2006 Miami Dolphins era, or did Saban’s lawyers write the script?
The stepped over that convulsing body
Hopefully Heath Evans calls them out

Amazing how St Nick convinced Spears to hate the color of his own skin.

He also use to pay players thru high school camps that the current players worked.
News flash, that's how a lot of college coaches paid their players pre-NIL. Company pays the player to "work", company gets tickets at the 40yd line about 25 rows up.

Most crooked coach in NCAA history . . . just ask Jimbo!

I absolutely do agree with it. Saban knew Brees would have been a game changer in Miami and would have conformed to Drew. Obviously we already know that Brees/Peyton was a fit because we saw that happen but Saban conformed to so many different OC's at Bama and that's proof he is willing to adapt. I mean if Saban and Lane can mesh, why couldn't he mesh with Drew?
I think there is an argument that Saban prior to his Miami struggles wouldn't have conformed. He was rougher around the edges. His time in the NFL showed him that he had to change some aspects of how he coached and that struggle helped elevate him even higher on the coaching scale.
My personal opinion is that he would have been just fine with Brees and would have stayed much longer in the NFL had he got him. I think he eventually would have made his way back to college though.

We all know big colleges were paying players but they have largely kept the evidence of that to a minimum. Why just randomly bring that up in a documentary?

So no superbowls in 50+ years… and they’re historically good? So I can only go back 13 presidential elections sorry. You’re describing Texas. One title in 56 years. Got it. I understand now.

All straight, indisputable facts.
It's crazy that Derrick Henry sat on the bench in 2014 to wait his turn. That Charger must have had all the options.

I thought it was interesting that the coaches confided that he asked them if they thought they could win without Kiffin but they felt like it wasn’t really a “question” Haha

I haven't watched the documentary, but they really left this out? That's sad.

DiNardo created recruiting inroads while coaching at Colorado particularly in New Orleans. He is who opened that portal to the local talent. Enter Saban, convincing the university to upgrade the facilities, and playing Rohan Davies. And most importantly, winning. History is made
