I don't see him retiring in the next 4 or 5 years. He may become incapacitated or worse health wise. I've been watching him for 15 years and have never seen him relaxed. Perhaps, he would go to the NFL again but I doubt it. I cannot see Saban in retirement at the lake and playing shuffle board or chess.

Scarbrinsky also said that Saban would never coach at Bama. Wish I still had the link to that article, it is the biggest FAIL of an article that I've ever read.

Wasn't that article published one or two days before Saban wsa hired?

He is very outspoken about his regret for leaving LSU and he has been quoted as saying that is the reason for his sadness.

Umm no.

Typical Scarbinsky article. No basis for anything but has a good headline that get people to click and comment. I view him as about the same level of journalist as Clay Travis.

It could be argued that Nick Saban has been a great thing for Auburn football.

I hope Auburn will do what they can and throw in a few more million to his annual salary to keep him coaching if this is the case.

Having to deal with the Alabama fanbases expectations can be a drag as well since they demand a run at the national title every season and if they are not winning they don't give a flip about things and want to burn the place down to restart with a new regime.

Where are these Bama fans everyone talks about? All these other fan bases keep repeating this tripe hoping to make it true. I have yet to talk to a fellow Bama fan who says, "Yeah, if ol' Nick doesn't go undefeated it's time to clean house."

Exactly. It is remarkable that he has a job - one of the very worst "sports journalists" out there.

he has never seemed like a particularly happy person.

I gathered that about him as well, at first. But I think now that he's just not one of those types that shows his emotions. He strikes me as a very cerebral sort.

To sum up the article:

I think Saban will retire, because I think he kind of looks like he maybe becoming dissatisfied.

Worthless opinion piece.

He was very stoic at LSU, it's nothing new. I remember when he was being interviewed after the "USC getting left out of the BCSNCG" controversy, and I guess I really hadn't seen an interview of him before or just never payed attention, but he couldn't have been more blah. I remember thinking "LSU is finally in the national football spotlight, and THIS is the guy representing us???"

He can retire after after we hire Jimbo. Bama and LSU are the only schools Jimbo would leave for.

Jimbo is a piece of shite. His handing of Winston was shameful. You can have him.

I haven't read the article yet, but I could see him retiring within the next 3 years. Spurrier sounds like he wants to hang it up in the next 3-5 and some of us feel Miles wants to hang it up after the 2016 season (look up Miles clause).

In the near future, the SEC could lose a ton of head coaching star power.

ETA: the Miles clause in the new coaching contracts (part of the reason why Chavis left).

Scarbinksy was the only writer that would work for what they are willing to pay -- jack shite. Even Ray Melick quit.
