Not sure I understand your statement, but Pete Rose was blacklisted for betting on his sport and his team. One of the greatest baseball players of all time.

My point is that because ONE JUDGE unilaterally decides to make a stupid decision legally forcing his punishment to be a slap on the wrist (the NCAA has him banned), somehow it makes the treatment Pete Rose received unjust? Is the MLB HOF supposed to backtrack on their rules and admit they are the bad guys because one single solitary Texas Tech guy with a gavel gave his boy a sweet deal last week?
Are you saying society's moral goal posts have moved by this one judge and we should all accept and apply this new standard to all players who have bet on their own teams or are we saying the goal posts were correct on the matter before and what this judge did was wrong.
