So the last 4 in were geared towards westward expansion and that’s moved the league away from its cultural base. Too much Texas Arky and Oklahoma honestly. So it’s time to look east again. Assuming Notre Dame goes Big 10 that would make the ACC prime for SEC offers.

So who do we accept. I would like to see Virginia. A solid baseball and basketball school that provides natural rivals for Vandy/Vols/Kentucky. And just seems like a natural fit for a South Eastern Conference. Next will be controversial to many but it’s time to allow Tech back in. Great rival for UGA/Vols/Auburn with a decent non football program that could recruit Atlanta well enough to to put up a very solid football program. Next would likely Clemson. It already plays 2 SEC schools most years and would be an easy move to the SEC. Lastly we have 2 real candidates that would fit nicely in UNC and Maryland. UNC has a well rounded athletic department and great fans that fill the need for a North Carolina representative. Maryland brings a strong not football tradition with the recruiting and fans to turn that back around quickly.

So 5 teams, 4 slots, who gets the golden tickets that put us in 4 5 team pods with 9 conference games a year and hosting our own championship game?

No point in adding GT. SEC already has Atlanta locked down and they aren't a national brand.
Maryland?

The next "expansion" will be a divisional break up of D-I into basically a minor league NFL and something that still somewhat resembles CFB with the leftovers. I would rather be in the leftovers.

Big 10 (Northern Conference) and SEC (Southern Conference) form NFL2 and stage their own Super Bowl.

Since we’ve already been going outside of the South East. I vote for Utah, Colorado., BYU, and Washington. I love the scenery at their football games. Nothing else really matters. It’s all about me and where I would like to see a game my team play at.

When gas gets to be $7.00 a gallon, no one will be attending games in person. Put any further expansion on the shelf. Hell, take it back to 10 is fine with me.

Why expand the SEC more and water down the product? Adding more and expanding doesn't always equal a better product

Right now the SEC is dangerously close to being overdone.

Most attractive markets that somewhat fit are Virginia and North Carolina.

Sure seems like we are headed in that direction. NFL model with 2 divisions, mostly north/west and sound/east. B10 rmerge with PAC and domer, we raid ACC.

I could see Clemson and any 3 of UNC/FSU/UVA/VT. Not sure what would happen to Miami in that scenario, but who cares.

ideal solution:

1) bring in Baylor, Okie State, TCU and Texas Tech
2) split into two 10-team divisions - 10 OG SEC members in one, all 10 expansion teams in the other
3) 9 intradivision games
4) champs of each division meet in SECCG

I don’t get the laughter. Isn’t Virginia one of the most stereotypical southern states there are? Like, isn’t that why there’s a West Virginia?

Yeah, I wanted VT, UVA, WVU, UNC or NC State both go rounds instead of what we got. Would make a lot more sense for UK, UT, VU and SC.

It won’t happen for a very long time. If it does then it won’t be fillers like GT.

You feel Virginia isn’t southern or eastern?
