So in other words, you did it for the same reason everybody else has, and we will all make more money because of it.
As a bonus, it will also give most of the current SEC teams another guaranteed win in football each year.

That being said, you Bama folks enjoy your time in Austin. But please remember what I've said here when you wonder why we aren’t all “RA RA SEC” like pathetic schools do.

TRUTH:
Texas came to the SEC because they've watched their conference go further and further into the crapper of leagues described as "others".
Firstly, you're NOT an SEC team, and won't be accepted around the conference as one for many years, if ever. Secondly, with just a few exceptions, you have no tradition (history) with the bulk of SEC schools, therefore rivalries are few, and that diminishes the games themselves. Finally, from what I can presently see, Texas is going to enter the SEC as a 2nd tier SEC athletic program from the major sports perspective, so my suggestion to our Horn newbies is:
Shut up, keep your head down, and do something to impress folks...as quickly as you can!

I pretty much agree with this, you stayed in the big 12 because it gave you the best shot at winning and slipping into a natty game. But since you can’t even break.500 there you might as well seek stability before that conference dissolves.

LHN was a bribe to get Texas to not go to the Pac10. And not a single university would've turned down that deal at the time.
But it sure has been an unmitigated disaster and a horrible experience for Texas fans.
So yes, I am definitely saying that. I'm ecstatic to be done with that albatross.
