It's not retroactive, these rules are just clarification.

But beyond that, why do people think the federal court system is somehow the place where these things are decided? This will never see a court room of any level.

The NCAA is voluntary. If A&M or anyone else doesn't like it, they can just leave.

wait and watch and weep.

Courts never said boosters can provide incentives for play for pay, and the ncaa isn't prohibiting players from using NIL.

The vast majority of member institutions are demanding regulations. Your team doesn't want to play by those rules? You don't have to. Good luck out on your own.

If Aggie gets hammered for this then I’ll believe Saban really does run college football

I don't think they will actually pursue cases from this last year. Too much to investigate and pursue.

Start now and enforce the rules going forward.

Nearly all member institutions favor NIL regulations. I'm sure LSU administration does too.

Only because we didn't have a NIL program set up.

but honestly, few programs can buy as many elite players as boosters at Texas and USC can. Yeah, Nick Saban has been a regular in the playoffs, but he's one guy. I don't think many reasonable Alabama fans expect this consistently when he retires. USC and Texas would be like forever if there were no regulations against buying players, so that would eventually kill college football, and too many people make too much money on college football to let it die.

ha

like another poster said before, the original core SEC teams might fight like hell, but when it really matters, they vote as a bloc.

Hasn’t saban publicly jerked himself to how much his qb was making without playing a down of football?

He was already on the roster so how much he makes is irrelevant. The issue is programs going out and offering deals to recruits. Can't do that.

If the NCAA decides to enforce their rules aTm will be one of several programs that get hit with sanctions. The only real question is how much longer the have's of CFB play by the NCAA's rules rather than starting their own league.

Why? Everyone knew boosters couldn't pay highschool recruits. Just because they claimed ignorance before guidelines were put in place doesn't mean they didn't deliberately shite all over the intent. They knew exactly what they were doing.

They didn't make new rules retard, they clarified that by the existing rules it was illegal AF and 8&4 is about to long for they days that they could get bowl invitations to forfeit.

Bryce Young's NIL deals were exactly how it was planned. He was already at Alabama when he got those deals, though his celebrity as the #1 high school qb in his class certainly didn't hurt.

He represents a BMW dealer in Birmingham, as well as Cash App and other legitimate businesses.

On the flip side, 8&4feit boosters paying high school players to sign with you team was never the intention of NIL, and is and has always clearly been against NCAA rules.
