Because they majority of Alabama fans are sidewalk alumni and as a whole their life’s have sucked. When your life sucks you try to find something to look down upon within your elements. Since football was really the only part of life that provide that avenue, they become very protective of it. Then you also have the alums with little penises.

Who is doing the expecting? There is one vague statement from the NCAA, and one quote from Mike Brey, who is hoping something is done but who is in no power to do anything. Everything else is Forde and Thamel throwing shite at the wall to see what sticks.

Seriously, I doubt it matters much. Say you are right. The contract does ease recruits concerns.
And honestly, the NCAA moves like a glacier. If they are investigating six schools, it could be years from now before anything happens.
And finally, if we are being really honest, everyone knows the NCAA does not want any part of this so I expect they will do the minimal amount to say "look we are doing things." without providing any real scrutiny to their cash cow.
