I think there were around 15 businesses/buildings damaged during that riot. Most of the damage was just broken glass. They did loot a couple of stores though, and they got into a Wells Fargo branch and did some damage in there.

This wasn't the issue. The issue was they had a guy on video inciting a riot. They arrested him then simply dismissed the charges. The city failed not only to protect the local businesses, but to hold anyone accountable.

Birmingham has changed a lot in the last ten years, but it's not because of the city leadership. In fact, I'd say that it's in spite of the leadership there. Woodfin is a clown.

Thankfully, no one in Vestavia, Homewood, Mnt Brook, or Hoover will ever go to the regional government model. Can you imagine any of those cities letting Bham City Schools frick up their system?

Hoover is probably the biggest shite show of the entire Bham area
