Five years to play five. No medical redshirts, no extenuating circumstances.

At least the NCAA has some balls here.

This kid has other options and has been told no repeatedly and is skirting the rules and abusing college football all. He certainly isn’t alone but don’t act like he’s not part of the problem just because he is your guy

Ole miss is fighting for him, he’s a grown man and could have declared. That’s on him and him alone

Welcome to the same bs kangaroo courts use to be able to drag the entire country out of policies just because it didn’t fit their agenda. Thank the lord we did away with that with this supreme courts ruling

This “kid” is 23 years old, and has played 5 years of college ball, and is out of eligibility. He has made millions playing. College football.
By 23 my parents were college grads, married and had a kid.
By23 I had my engineering degree, was paying college loans, had full time job, and was engaged, etc.
23 years old is not a child. It’s plenty old enough to be a man and responsible for your decisions.
For the record, I’d say the same thing if he played for my school.

Look I don’t really care one way or another but your first sentence is just flat out wrong.
He has played 3 years and has not made millions. You think Ferris State or Ole Miss paid a D2 QB millions?
The entire eligibility question is whether he should have received a medical redshirt for the 22-23 season where he didn’t play a snap. He redshirted his Freshman year 21-22.
Max Johnson is playing for his 8th year and NCAA cleared that.

How bizarre for a situation to make me root for the NCAA.

This is the NCAA’s biggest issue.
Selective endowment.

. Be consistent in your rulings and people won’t fight back.
I can't recall any other player getting a redshirt for a sore throat in a season where he wasn't going to play anyway.
It's as ridiculous as Pavia getting to play because his JUCO time apparently didn't count or whatever.

Seems to be the courts more than the NCAA.

I'm not being facetious I'm genuinely asking...if the governing body of the sport can simply be overruled and ignored by going to the nearest court to the school and getting a friendly judge to rule however they want, how are ANY rules expected to be enforced?
This is how we got NIL to begin with and how pretty much anything in this country works, don’t like something, get it in front of the right judge.

I understand… however, 21-22 he “played”. He was not first string. He was not the best on his team. That doesn’t qualify you for a second redshirt.
That is a year of eligibility.

He (Max Johnson) also should be done. I don’t agree that he should get another year either.
When people were talking about Chambliss following Kiffin to LSU, I didn’t think he should be allowed to play for LSU EITHER.
This is not me against an OM player getting another year, it is my opinion that the “5 years to play 4” rule should still be the gold standard.
If they want to make a rule for medical redshirts, as well, I think there should be a hard set rule, like you have to be injured and unable to play for a certain amount of the season, etc.
(but 8 years? Like Max That’s insane.)

I agree with you and on the same page.
My problem is the NCAA. How can you allow a player who played meaningful snaps for D1 schools for 7 years get another year but deny Chambliss (and this is multiple players beyond Max).
NCAA dug their own grave and now needs to take a dirt nap imo.
