It's supposed to storm there all weekend. Great

Knoxville Sat 4% Sun 58% Mon 58%
Hattiesburg Sat 49% Sun 35% Mon 24%

Not much difference in the chances of rain except for Knoxville having more of a chance of rain 2 of the 3 days

Maybe they’ll score a run this year at the super regionals…

I bet they score more than Ole Miss does….

As someone who did the same thing, I grew up an LSU fan because I watched the games with my grandpa who went to LSU. I never applied to LSU though as it was much cheaper to go to Southern Miss since I lived near the campus and was paying my own way.

Exactly this. Ive watched every LSU Football and Baseball game since I was 8. My father and I bonded over it, my grandfather and I bonded over it. LSU is at the heart of my family. However I live out of state and couldnt afford to attend LSU my bad for not being rich. USM was the university my family could afford after I got my associate at PRCC, and thankfully I have no student debt. My father wouldnt allow me to take loans but also couldnt do something like LSU.

Outside of baseball they arent in the same world, and its worth noting that I attended the regionals last year and didnt really root one way or the other.

Ole Miss quit playing USM in football in 1984.
because there was nothing to gain and everything to lose.
State has played USM in 2014, 15 18 and will again in 2023 and 2024. There was a gap between 1991-2013. State leads the series 17-12-1 on the field. Southern had a good stretch between 1978-1988 but 1988 was last time they beat State. There is a big talent gap in football.

Both State and Ole Miss still play USM in baseball and the games are competitive. State leads the overall series 85-44. Not sure about OM-USM in baseball.

Most State and Ole Miss fans are pulling for USM right now in baseball. There is more camaraderie in baseball. Plus Scott Berry is a class act. It would be cool for a third straight MS team to win the CWS. It is possible that UT may overwhelm USM like OM did last year. But this USM team is battle worthy and this weekend they will be much more competitive than they were last year in the SR. IMO.

I'd be really pissed if I was a Vols fan too, I mean, they proved that home advantage during a Super Regional was unbeatable last year...

USM's 18 inning home Super Regional scoreless streak will be put to a severe test.

Looking forward to playing UF. Although I hate that SEC teams have to face off against each other to make it to Omaha (including UK vs LSU).
Hopefully, it is a good series. Hoping we can find that early season magic again.
We’ll see.

So they get rewarded for being the big fish in a very small pond? Have you looked at their schedule. The first impressive thing they did was beat Auburn.

The Sun Belt is a very strong and respected baseball conference. Sounds like you don't know shite about baseball, which is typical for someone who started watching ball, what, two seasons ago?

I get it. This might have been me heading to LaTech except that LSU came through with an academic scholarship late in the game.

Geaux Tigers and Golden Eagles.

(F*ck the rest of the SEC)

Once again, who is that?

Are you referring to Bill McGillis? Southern Miss former AD whose son played baseball here but doesn't any longer?

Do some research for yourself before you start spewing shite that you heard on some message board. Not a good look for you.

That would be who I’m referring to. So I got one detail wrong but he’s definitely connected to USM. Definite bias. Yeah I’m really concerned with how I’m perceived on a message board

They really need to revise how teams get hosting priority. Should be resume based instead of corrupt back room deals. Auburn’s AD did the same thing earlier
the Vols blew their chance to host just like we did. Stop crying and head yalls arse to Hattiesburg.

That was in football back in the 80’s. Ole Miss and Miss State stopped playing USM.

They began blowing their chances to host the very first weekend. At least we made it 40 games into the season before we blew our chances to host.

I think whoever wins our series in Gainesville will have a decent shot of advancing to the CWS finals from that half of the bracket. UVA will most likely be the first game in Omaha for the winner and will be a tough out, and TCU looked pretty good against the Hogs but I think overall it's the better half of the bracket to be in.
