USM losing midweek games to State, OM, Bama and UNO were costly.
Go 2-2 in those four games and they are hosting.
Midweek games count and they can be the difference in hosting a Regional.
USM is a case in point.
Now all that said, I think they have a very good team and they are going to be a difficult 2 seed for a SEC team.
Bama here is looking at you.

Hell ya come see O’Brate Aggies. Stillwater is a great time, usually have some Red Dirt country bands playing by Eskimo Joes and make sure your hotel is near The Strip aka Washington St.

Campbell and the Vols are gonna be tuff #2 seeds for anyone. Campbell got robbed of a host. They have a really solid program.

Pretty sure we are, that atmosphere was insane last year.

Need to make it a non-con series every year.

Go from seeming like a host seed lock to getting to play the #1 overall seed. I’d be pissed for sure if that was us.

It is a conference chuck full of very large school and alumni bases overlaying half or more of the US population.

Doesn't prevent them from sucking at everything though.

27 of Campbell's 44 wins are against Q4 teams - so are 3 of their 13 losses. 3 of their 57 games were against P5 teams. they beat N.Carolina by 1 and lost to Duke twice by 9 & 2 runs. SOS 86.

they're a good ball club and whoever faces them will have to play well to beat them.

A lot of those will not happen.

No way Clemson gets punished with UTk or Campbell goes to Wake. I bet UTk goes to Indiana St. and Campbell goes to USCe.

likely not - but the NCAA loves to rehash matchups from previous heated regionals past - Maryland basically killed Chad Holbrook's program and ended a 4 year juggernaught run for Carolina in the 2014 Columbia regional. there's also the old ACC days where USC and MD had more fights during competition across the big 3 sports than any two schools during 17 years.

Campbell's SOS at 86 and I guess it's actually 6 total games out of 57 against P5 teams (Rutgers is easy to overlook as a P5 sports program) really inflated their overall record. Camels were placed in Cola in 2014 along with Maryland - and could easily return next weekend.

Southern Miss got hosed out of hosting they had 41 wins and top 16 rpi and won their conference tourney

Coastal won the regular season, took the series from USM and was 7 spots higher in the RPI than USM. With the SEC and ACC sucking up all the air, no way Sun Belt was getting two hosts.

If that prediction holds up and USM gets sent to LSU, that I agree is a hosing.

I know USM to BR is a popular choice but I think they go to Bama or Auburn.

Only three west of the Mississippi and Arkansas is just barely west. I’m not a baseball fan but what happened to Texas, Cal St Fullerton and the LA schools?

Trivia question

Name the last time Auburn and Tuscaloosa were both Regional host sites in the same season ? For a bonus name the last time both campuses hosted a Regional before the NCAA went to the Super Regional format in 1999 ?

1999 is the last time both hosted in the same year.

We both went to the 1997 CWS. Not sure if Auburn hosted that year.

Edit : They didn't, they won the FSU regional.
