I did not think the tournament would be cancelled as this is the cash cow for the NCAA.

Atlanta traffic is like less than half of what it normally is and the outbreak isn’t even bad here yet.

Rush hour is still quite the bitch here in Dallas. Manufacturing and warehousing jobs ain't about to stop until an actual facility employee gets sick.

No fans in the stands. Everyone will be hosting watch parties getting all sick sharing food together. Probably safer going to the games. People will let their guard down at home and at bars.

Oh wait - are they going to start closing restaurants as well, won't let me out of my house.

This is a bit much IMO. Govt controls your safety from yourself.

Now if I were old or had health issues - I would stay at home until this thing cleared.

IDK, if this will be watchable without the fans. I remember watching football when our band didn't travel and it totally sucked -- you get used to having the various sounds and while you may not realize it when they are there you miss them when they aren't.

I think it just means it will need to be enjoyed more while with others. I would obviously rather have fans but im kind of interested how it will look/sound after a game winner and no crowd noise.

That’s the issue. Everyone under 60 would be doing a disservice to the older population if we don’t take it seriously.

4200 US flu deaths this year. No panic or mass hysteria

32 US coronavirus deaths this year. Mass hysteria. Dead from flu is just as dead as from the coronavirus.

What am I missing? Oh and for some reason there is no toilet paper at Walmart.

I wonder if they end up playing the Final Four at State Farm Arena or Tech or something. I have no idea. What an incredible situation.
I'll bet the Buckhead YMCA could be snapped up this late...if they hurry.

It's not just old people. People with high blood pressure, diabetics, and respiratory problems are in danger with this virus. The more test they run, the younger they are getting.

You’re missing that’s it’s an election year and the media needs to overhype it.

That the flu infects 3 million Americans a year and if that same number got it at a 2% mortality rate that'a 60,000. It's much more deadly.

No, because of the mass panic over yet another pandemic that will fizzle out

You know this how? Your credentials in public health, medicine, epidemiology? If we implement effective mitigation and containment programs perhaps we have relative good outcomes. Without prudent measures, it will not fizzle out. Get your head out of your arse or Trump’s.

Look at Italy, for what could happen in the US if drastic measures are not taken. My company (International) is going to lose multi-millions for the safety of its employees. But they did it anyway

Took the entire sales team off the road. Everybody work from home is currently strongly encouraged. In the next two weeks, it won't even be optional anymore because it changes daily

34000 died from the flu in the USA last year. No quarantines, mass cancellations or hysteria.

Flu season is hitting its stride right now in the US. So far, the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000.

quote:

So how do these numbers compare to flu deaths in previous years? So far, it looks like the 2019-2020 death toll won’t be as high as it was in the 2017-2018 season, when 61,000 deaths were linked to the virus. However, it could equal or surpass the 2018-2019 season's 34,200 flu-related deaths.

I'm not trying to get into this whole thing but you realize those 32 people have died in a 10 day period of the early days of a virus that has just begun to hit the population, right?

That's just silly.
