You don't know your SEC sports history, but you are still a relative newcomer from a historical perspective.

When are these dorks gonna realize that conference tournaments mean nothing unless you’re one of the last four out.

Sure it’s not Sears?

Seriously? How many adjustments does Oats ACTUALLY make in a game when Sears and Grant are carrying the team.

We should stop deifying coaches who don’t have to X/O or coach in game. He can literally turn them loose to play street ball.

Pulling for BAMA they are winning me big money on FanDuel but the Oats shite is wayyyyyyyy over the top an undeserved.

How many of his assistant coaches did he have to replace from last year? How many players did he have to replace from last year?
If you can’t see what he did and how he did it you sir are a fool.

You bring up Cal in a weak deflection to the tone of my post. No one here has been a Cal fan I years. YEARS!

Do better. You’re posting the obvious…just like I did.

3 assistant coaches and 9 players!! It was a feat just to make it in to the tournament. Phenomenal to get them to the Final Four!!

I don't like Nate Oats, but I admit that GIF is hilarious, even if it was against LSU.

Seriously: Oats isn't a coach that really tinkers and makes adjustments nearly as much as most. He mainly teaches his system, recruits for that system and sticks with that system.

I'd venture to say that every close game Alabama has won under him has had a moment like the closing stretch against UNC:
UNC went on a 6 point run to take the lead ending with a thunderous fast break dunk. UNC fans were going nuts, they had all the 'momentum' and players started chest bumping and exhorting the crowd.

Conventional wisdom is call a TO and calm things down and almost every coach follows that. Oats instead is screaming to push it and Bama answers with a ultra-quick 3 pointer to take back the lead. That's the hectic pace he's coached and recruited to thrive in.

Sometimes that doesn't work but it's a good reminder that his "adjustment" is often letting the game plan play out and resisting adjustments.

That said, in the final minutes of UNC game Oats called the clear out and pick and roll between Sears and Nelson -- since you mention those two -- to get Nelson on Sears smaller defender and drive him to the rim that resulted in the +1 that put Bama in the drivers seat for the final minute.

Who’s angrier about Bama’s success? Auburn or Kentucky fans?

And won the SEC Tournament!

No one remembers who won conference tournaments, not even the fans of those who won.

But losing to Yale in the round of 64 is something that all SEC basketball fans will remember for years to come.

Congrats on making memories.
