well, because Clemson sucked

by however you want to measure it, Alabama has won more national titles than any team since the Ivy league ruled rugby style football in the 1800s. Speaking of the 1800s, Alabama has won more games since 1895 than any team in the nation, even excluding the 30 victories on the field that the ncaa decided should be vacated or forfeited.

CLICK ME!!!!

edit to note the point since you aren't the brightest bulb in the chandelier: Alabama will still be winning games and titles when Clemson is yet again a footnote in the annals of college football.

ou're a Clemson fan who didn't watch football till 2013.

I was at Clemson in late 90s when Tommy West was the coach and the team was struggling.

Despite that, it seemed like a place that would more win natties in the future, people were crazed out even with a mediocre or bad team, along with the size and look of the stadium.

Nobody who has been to Clemson will come away thinking this doesn't look like a place that can recruit well. It looks like the perfect backdrop for a movie about a dominant football program.

You were just saying the other day that championships don't count unless the overseeing body awards them.

another lie by the resident dummy

you got a link to that?

edit to say, but yeah, if some podunk newspaper in, say, Opelika Alabama is the only source that recognizes the title, that's bogus

edit again to note that the sidewalk fan is furiously searching for something he can spin around to make it appear he isn't a total dumbass. He will fail yet again.

Tom Landry and Coach Bryant hired Stallings. Enough to say he was a good coach. His record at AM was AM's fault.

No doubt about that

you can't logically compare Clemson and Alabama across the past 120 years or so because Clemson was a military school like The Citadel until 1955 or so.

that's part of why the 'lil ol Clemson' thing is funny. Clemson is the closest thing to Rudy in college football.

Clemson now has 3 titles, the most ACC titles and routine visits to playoffs to tout in recruiting.

that's like bragging about being better than University Alabama- Huntsville. Clemson today is a completely different kind of university than the military version.

i think that you will agree that winning national titles and conference titles should help with future recruiting. That Clemson is the only program to beat Saban and Alabama in title game and did it twice will echo through the generations.

the reality is people of the future will be more interested in Clemson than Alabama of this era because people love an underdog story. even though Clemson isn't really an underdog if you have been to campus. lol

When FSU was dominant they had the same easy conference path Clemson has now, because the ACC is shite and always has been.

Nothing, and I mean nothing backs up this claim. You're pulling it out of your arse. Alabama always has been and always will be one of the big boys of college football. Clemson is a pretender and will gone before we know it.

quote:

SEC has basically formed a monopoly because they fear a 12 team playoff will level the playing field.

The SEC would love to have a 12 team playoff. That would welcome many of the dominant programs in our conference into the playoffs and would all but ensure an SEC national champion.

You're an idiot.

This is a lot of name calling coming from someone who doesn't know what a primetime football game is.

the ACC is a solid conference, and especially since Va Tech, BC, Lville, Cuse, and Miami joined. SEC has had more teams win natties but for the most part Alabama has been a Bowden era FSU type program in it since Saban arrived. That means it isn't competitive as advertised. LSU, Florida, Auburn seem to have magical seasons but then a lot of mediocre in between. People tend to think of them as better than they are based on their magical seasons.

People forget this but Va Tech has won the conference 4 times since they joined 15 years ago or so.

the only conference you think is good is SEC. SEC should just started its own league. I'd be cool with that. A league that didn't have the SEC would probably get better ratings.

I’m sure Miami fans thought something similar when they dumped Coker 15 years ago.

This is gonna sting for my fellow bama fans but I think Gene Stallings (when you consider his lack of success elsewhere) is sorta a similar proof of program quality.

I met Gene as a young kid and he was a gracious and kind man. He won 70 games in 7 years at Alabama. One of the greats in the program’s history but he was just alright everywhere else.

No doubt, it’s a top job for this reason.

I mean fricking les Miles played in 2 title games with this program, a legit, serious coach here would wreck.

No doubt. When FSU was dominate that was a tough division. And nobody ever talked about Clemson because they were a second or third floor doormat. FSU has not been good for a while.
