Believe it or not, unless you do a lot of scrambling, the ideal pocket passer body type is to grow a good bit of upper body fat to add mass and absorb blows. These guys aren't inadvertently becoming chubby as starting QB's with multi-million dollar athletic training departments. If ripped abs made them better QB's, that is what they would have.

I first remember a photo of Kevin Faulk in the 1996 Sports Illustrated season preview mag. So the photo was from his freshman season in 95.
