We were on the highway two miles from the launch pad with a clear view. You had to be really important to be in the stands. We were considered VIP’s, but they also had VVIP’s and VVVIP’s. I don’t think I’ve heard the term Very Very Very Important Person since.

I had no idea the entire Apollo crew were all AU grads. WOW!

Why doesn't Auburn brag about that more, market that shite to the hilt?

Edit: nevermind, I see this isn't true

no, but I believe there was one with two grads

ETA Shuttle Mission 4 had two grads as the pilots, rest of the crew were not AU grads. Only duplicate mission

It was a two man crew and was the last of the Flight Testing of the Shuttle.

I remember playing outside as a kid and hearing them
test for first time the Saturn engines on Redstone, scare the shite out
of me, thinking the Russians were attacking. Cold War was for real.

And yet Auburn still has an 80% acceptance rate. Yikes. I’ll take being a “real” school (I.e not just accepting anyone with a pulse) over having a flag on the moon.

When you have a 80% acceptance rate and an average ACT score near 28, that tells you what type of students are applying. I think you may be living proof that any moron can fill out an application.

I remember reading years ago that NASA broke the groups of folks for the Apollo 11 launch into VVVIPs (Very Very Very Important People), VVIPs (Very Very Important People), VIPs (Very Important People), and RAMs (Ragged arse Masses).
