Auburn leaving makes the West easier by some degree for those schools.

I don't think any Alabama people have a problem with the singular issue of Auburn moving to the East.

Our problem is with the dominoes issues it creates re: out of division games as our 2 biggest rivals would now be in a different division.

Nice talking point but the only way this is possible is if the divisions were equally competitive, we all know that is false and has been for at least a decade.

Every single west team was good enough to have won the east at some point in the last 10 years, please let me know which season TN, Vandy, or KY would have even been competitive in the west.

& the East dominated the West the prior decade.
Your point is.....?

Just to educate some fans of each team about AU's situation. We have very little history with any team in the West outside of Alabama and State and the divisions all but killed the Tennessee and Florida series which were both great rivalries (especially UF). Yes, we got to keep our two biggest rivals in UA/UGA but we also sacrificed more than any other team IMO. Geographically it makes sense for everyone and it gives AU all its rivals back on a yearly basis (Which is what AU wants, no one wants to dodge Bama, not even Dye). Auburn has always played one of the tougher SEC schedules and we want those historic games back. Obviously losing LSU would suck because it has become a big game but outside of the last 15 years or so it hasn't been a traditional rivalry. The bottom three games against Vandy,UK,USC, would be worse than OM, MSU, Arky but AU fans would gleefully give up those games to regain UF and UT and play Bama,UT,UF,UGA on a yearly basis.

Well said.

Why didn't they just pair Mizz./TA&M?
Easiest solution.

would Tenn support the move? if Auburn plays Bama every year the Vols get out of playing the Tide every year. how would the regular cross division games shake out.

Huh? Instead of switching SC's cross rival, just pair up the 2 new teams (Mizz./TA&M) when they joined.

Not sure who the new perm rival from the East would be, maybe UK

Easy! UGA. Auburn would lose them as a cross rival so Mizzou picks them up. The last two years have been close games as well. SC would also be a good cross rival for Mizzou.

Every team in the west could benefit by moving to the east, and thus enjoying an easier path to the championship game and/ or playoff. This is reliably true year in and out.
No wonder AU wants to make the move.

Not sure that playing Bama and Georgia every year plus the resurgent East will make our schedule much easier.

It does not matter to me one bit, I am ok either way. Everyone keeps saying how much sense it makes for Auburn to be in the east, because they border GA, students from Tennessee, Florida etc. One point that no one has brought up as far as logistics go, is what sense does it make for two teams from the same state, less than 3 hours apart to be in a different division?

THANK YOU!!!

Hince why the SEC WON'T break up Miss./MSU nor TN/Vandy.....both pairs are in-state schools. I have been arguing that point forever!

Could guarantee that the state wins the SEC Championship some years.

It's too late this season anyway. Next years schedules have already been released. It's eventually going to happen.

Honestly, since the creation of divisions, the schedules have changed quite a bit.

Arkansas has two former permanent opponents that we no longer play annually: South Carolina (phased out during expansion) and Tennessee (phased out when we all went from two permanent opponents to one, sometime last decade).

At this point, what difference does it make?

Not much. It isn't like there is a long-standing tradition between Auburn and any of the western teams other than Alabama. 25 years, no care. We played Carolina just as often until the Big 12 expansion.

I like going to Auburn every two years, but other than that, I wouldn't care.

It would give us an easier schedule, that's for sure. We'd have like 1.5 hard games against the West every year.

Sure, we're still never winning the West as long as daddy Saban is around, but it would make getting to 10 wins a whole lot easier; which will get you New Year's Six possibilities and outside chance at the playoff in some years.

All trolling aside I made sure to catch the AU-Fla game every year back in the day as it was always a battle and great game, hated it getting killed.

We need to go back to two rotating opponents though, Bama is just going to have to suck it up buttercup.

I think Tennessee (fans, at least) would support the move. Remember that UT played Auburn every year from 1956-1991. Even though we've played Florida every year for the last quarter century...we haven't played them more times than we've played Auburn.

As a matter of fact, UT has played Auburn more times than they have played Georgia. I would love to see that game renewed as an annual event.
