Because it's a far more natural fit. Helluva lot closer to travel-to than CoMo. True SEC fans, better environment in Auburn ... it's just the logical way things should be and Gamecock fans, as a whole, we tend to be a very logical, realistic, fan base.

Perhaps they enjoy competition more than looking for an easier path like you pussies.

Not everyone view the world through an Auburn lens.

Missou would oppose big time because they would not survive the west. Everything would suffer as far as their sports, but football would hit all time low

Missouri used to rely on Texas recruiting when they were in the Big XII. If they were in the SEC, they'd have slightly better visibility in Texas, and probably develop more of a rivalry with Arkansas than in the current arrangement, so its something of a mixed bag for Missouri, at least to my thinking.

However, I think all the other East teams would be against swapping Auburn for Missouri for competitive reasons. Bama would oppose it because of the TSIO problem. I don't think A&M or LSU would be particularly excited about more trips to Missouri.

As a Big XII school you should know a lot about your past rival
Why wouldn't A&M want to rekindle a old BigXII rivalry

Regarding the SEC you do not know shite and should not speak of something you are not familiar with

We consistently have one of the harder schedules in the nation. If we move to the east we will continue to have the same.

I know you don't mean either of the Mississippi schools.

Mizzou would be ok with it to get better recruiting in Texas.

It wouldn't help develop the Arkansas rivalry though, we already play each year now.

Not sure who the new perm rival from the East would be, maybe UK.

Agreed. I'd look forward to the Auburn game every year. No one gives a shite about the Mizzou game.

Nice talking point but the only way this is possible is if the divisions were equally competitive, we all know that is false and has been for at least a decade.

Every single west team was good enough to have won the east at some point in the last 10 years, please let me know which season TN, Vandy, or KY would have even been competitive in the west.

I think UK would prefer to keep Missouri in the East. Columbia is closer to Lexington than Auburn is. Plus, UK and Auburn have no real feelings or history with each other while we are gradually building a rivalry with Missouri (already getting heated on this board). We even have a built in name for the game in The Battle of the Border States.

Playing Auburn every year, no offense to them, just wouldn't excite the UK fan base anymore than playing UK every year would excite the Auburn fan base.

Why would any of these schools, other than Auburn of course, support it? Maybe Florida to renew the old rivalry? What do LSU, the 'sippi sisters, Arky and Aggy have to gain from Auburn moving?

That is a fair point.

Look I am a South Carolina fan. I actually like Missouri, but we are the farthest east school other than Florida.

I can ken why it happened, historic rivalries, lack of pull.

But we get these honking long road trips no one else wants to make (well to be fair A&M and Arkansas are/were on the other end).

We have no natural anything with A&M. Nothing, nada. There is no rivalry, just a game on the schedule. Most of us know absolutely nothing about A&M other than they are a potential beast mode team if they ever get the right coach.

Our fans will never interact, other than the odd grad that moved to Texas. Most of our students will never attend a game in College Station.

And you can say a lot of the same for Arkansas, but I bet more of our students will make the trek for that than A&M.

Maybe the present situation is better for the majority of teams. I think fans like you should speak up about your thoughts.

To me though, having Auburn on the schedule every year would be better for us than Missouri. It is an easy commute, have to check the map but not much further than Raleigh or Chapel Hill were.

Well that assumes we got Mississippi State back on the schedule, instead of Missouri.

Getting a little tired of Bama running this conference. There are 14 schools. Seems to me 12 of them could tell Bama that this TSIO and Iron Bowl things are an inconvenience for the other schools.

And you know Bama, into each life a little rain must fall.

What you gonna do, go to the Big 10?

Old rivalry and they would no longer have to drive 1,012 miles to Missouri.

I don't want them in the East. That makes it harder on us, and well all know that we don't need a tougher schedule.

Just to educate some fans of each team about AU's situation. We have very little history with any team in the West outside of Alabama and State and the divisions all but killed the Tennessee and Florida series which were both great rivalries (especially UF). Yes, we got to keep our two biggest rivals in UA/UGA but we also sacrificed more than any other team IMO. Geographically it makes sense for everyone and it gives AU all its rivals back on a yearly basis (Which is what AU wants, no one wants to dodge Bama, not even Dye). Auburn has always played one of the tougher SEC schedules and we want those historic games back. Obviously losing LSU would suck because it has become a big game but outside of the last 15 years or so it hasn't been a traditional rivalry. The bottom three games against Vandy,UK,USC, would be worse than OM, MSU, Arky but AU fans would gleefully give up those games to regain UF and UT and play Bama,UT,UF,UGA on a yearly basis.

To further create the perfect AU schedule would need to include a yearly OOC to renew the GT series which was every bit the rivalry AU/UGA used to be.
