Jimbo’s act is going to get pretty stale to players and boosters when he doesn’t produce. He had lost the team at FSU.
You can be a hard arse like Saban when you get results but no so much when you’re not winning championships.

Anyone that follow that situation realizes it was the team that lost him not the other way around. For years he told the school, either invest in facilities or you could lose me,

o, it is not a must win for Jimbo. Even if he loses against Auburn, Bama, and LSU this season (feel free to scatter in another random SEC loss) he'll still be back next year. There will be some sour expressions in Aggieville though.

Gus, on the other hand, needs a good old SEC beat down game to quiet the fans. I think Auburn has a good team this year and they have a shot at competing for the West, but coach fatigue has really set in down on the plains. Unless you are talking about a beloved living legend people get tired of their coaches eventually and Gus is at that stage.

I'd give the edge to Auburn. They've been in a tight game with their backs to the wall and won. A&M, with no insult intended to the Aggies, was in a tight game with their backs to the wall and collapsed down the stretch.

Holy hell, there is a lot of bullshite in there to unpack.

First off, by "must win" we do not mean Jimbo will be fired for going seven and five. We just mean for the season to be a success he must be Auburn. It's not likely he's going to get a chance to be any of the other top 10 teams. Mainly because Alabama is better, and Georgia and LSU are on the road. Road and Mond do not mix.

while I think auburn is the better team right now, I don't think they have an edge on being down late with backs against the wall over what A&M has done before, like last year with LSU. Did you watch that game?

No, but the season will definitely look bleak if we lose.

Can you read? I said the team, not the administration. The locker room at FSU became a cesspool under Jimbo.

After he disengaged, yes, but that’s after he’d made up his mind he was leaving for LSU but then they couldn’t afford him. Luckily Aggie had the cash laying around

So, in your opinion, Jimbo had a better year than Herman last year?

Herman would have done worse against the same schedule

same result but much more difficult conference and Jimbo didn’t lose to a rent a win team

Absolutely. Herman plays nobody of consequence, and it shows in his soft as Charmin defense

The answer is no.

We do really need an upset win if we lose to Auburn to have a good season though.

Interesting. So the fact that we finished number 9 in the final rankings, seven spots above you, had a higher rated recruiting class, and played in both a conference championship game and a NYE bowl while you played in the Roto Rooter Bowl, all that doesn’t mean anything because SECSEC?

You played in a meaningless bowl, it meant something when the #1 big 12 team and conference winners got to play there but the playoffs have made getting there a moral victory for a team that cannot win its own conference. All austin does is claim moral victories now. “ we got to the sugar bowl! because Oklahoma beat our arse and we have several losses to unranked teams!” “We won the sugar bowl! Because Georgia had 8 starters not play because the game had no meaning and an injury would hurt their nfl careers”

Your bowl victory had zero relevance greater than ours. Unless, like I said, you cling to the moral aspect of getting to a bowl because Oklahoma beat you and winning it because Georgia had 8 players going into the nfl sitting on the bench.

Cling to those moral victories! It’s what they’ve always done best in austin

Well, yes, I know... bullshite and Texas A&M do sort of go hand in hand I will grant you. I was trying to be nice for once. For the record I didn't talk about the weird cult thing you guys have going on.

As for we have to win this game to make the season seem like a success... OK, I can buy that, but I think y'all were pretty well hosed before the season began. It was an incredibly tough schedule for a team that, with no insult intended for once, isn't quite ready for that schedule. Especially with so many tough games on the road.

The problem with putting too much credence in we finally managed to beat LSU last year is that it could very well be that y'all won the annual Coach O has a complete brain fart game. The Lovable Crazy Cajun has one game a year that is completely baffling. Plus that was last year y'all did that.

This year we only have the games that have been played to judge both teams and we know that Auburn answered the bell while A&M crumbled down the stretch. Yes, yes, Arkansas sucks and y'all have a win streak going against us that if it lasts for another decade will even up the series.

I don't have a dog in this fight. Auburn and A&M both fall into the category of my cat's litterbox. Serves a purpose, but isn't pleasant to spend time with. If you beat Auburn I will be happy because Gus will be miserable. If they beat you I will be happy because y'all will be miserable.

We've lost to Ole Miss already. As I have said before we are playing with house money now. Our expectations are effectively zero.

Ridiculous to say that the Sugar Bowl win is meaningless. Under that line of thought, about 99% of all games are “meaningless” because those teams have no chance of making it to the playoffs. It also means the Ags have never had a meaningful win. Sure you want that?

All Bowl games are meaningless with the CFP. Sorry to break it to you, but that is why so many kids are sitting out to protect their draft prospects

Because it doesn't really matter.

The funniest part about the Maryland loss last year is that Matt Freaking Canada was Maryland’s head coach at the time.

Aggies played in the cotton bowl vs the big 12 champion in 2012

I’m saying they filled a spot that they didn’t earn, filled by default because Oklahoma got erroneously put in the playoffs and played an opponent that say 1/3 of its starters because the game was meaningless.
