"Mullen got fired a FL for having the same record as Jimbo
Jimbo 34-15 A&M
Mullen 34-15 FL

Mullen had a 10 and 11 win season. Zero 10 win seasons and counting for Jimbo"

That's a crazy stat, I would have never guessed that Dumbo had the same record as mullen when he was fired.

I actually respect this move by him lol. Dude loves the game and still wants to be involved but also is a millionaire and wants to enjoy life without the insane stress. Good for him

Believe me I don't want to stick up for a&m or Jimbo, but mullen was fired for his last ten games or so, not the body of his work. If mullen had the exact same record season to season he'd still be at Florida

Mullen being a jackass didn't help either. He Could've stayed even with the shite year but he said some dumb shite over his time at UF.

Y’all member when MSU would shout from the mountain tops that he was the second best coach to Saban?

Mullen did a good job at State. Not sure what has happened to him. Maybe the stress at Florida was too much. State is a pretty low stress job as long as you get us bowl eligible with a few 9+ win seasons sprinkled in. At Florida you’re expected to compete with Alabama and Georgia and maybe he couldn’t handle the pressure. The fact he is taking the job he is tells me he is trying to get back to just football coaching instead of managing a major program. Some people need that type of reset

He got $6 million a few days after his buyout and gets a $1 million check every June through 2027.

After years under Urban, the Grind at MSU, and the UF experience, I'd bet he is happy as he'll to do what he loves best working at the HS level.

Good for him. Would be a dream job for many without his financial situation. It's all the better for him

I’m curious did Dan Mullen ever coach a SEC season without non conference opponents and win more than eight games?

OK, I'll concede that Jimbo is in fact as good as Mullen.

If Orgeron went 9-1 in 2020, 8-4 and beat Bama with a backup QB in 2021, and pulled the greatest recruiting class of all time in 2022 he would still be at LSU.

Same for Mullen at Florida.

Really dumb comparison. Both Orgeron and Mullen started off hot and fizzled out. Clearly neither were head coach material long term.

With his buyout, I would just go watch the games, who needs it.

As did Jimbo at FSU.

Mullen's 13 years as a SEC head coach isn't long term

When you say “we will worry about recruiting during the off-season” when your team is sub .500 you aren’t going to work out long term at your current school. That’s some all time worst press conference dipshittery.

I was assured by Bama, UT, UF, etc fans that he was easily the best coach in the SEC East.

Agree. It's nearly as bad as saying that NIL ca$h had "nothing to do" with attracting a record number of 5 star recruits to an 8-4 forfeiting program located at some desolate wasteland in the middle of Texas.

“The rumors that Dan Mullen will be the new offensive coordinator at Lake Oconee Academy are false,” McCurley tweeted. “I have confirmed that with multiple school officials this morning. However, he does reside in Greensboro, and his son toured the school this week. But he will not be coaching.”

Following the conflicting reports over the past couple of days, Lake Oconee Academy athletic director Chris Ingle put out a statement, via McCurley, regarding Mullen. Ingle confirmed that Mullen will be a “contributing resource” for the school’s football team, though he won’t be an official coach on the coaching staff.

A desolate wasteland that is 1.5 hours from the most talented football city in America. We could have gotten a top 5 class just recruiting the houston area.

Florida can’t even pull together a top 15 class in one of the top 3 most talent rich football states.

That proximity to all that talent but still no meaningful success since 1939

Florida is the favorite to sign multiple 5 star players this cycle including the #1 player in the country. Napier’s already created a pipeline at IMG and has grabbed two solid players with high interest from more. The shitty UF recruiting program your used to is over

Houston has great HS football no doubt, but it’s not metro Atlanta nor Palm Beach, Broward, & Dade County, FL
